Jenks takes over at Martin County

Martin County has selected  Hunter Jenks to take over their football program.  Jenks, a former head football coach at South Johnston, and most recently Clayton High School has over 17 years of coaching experience in North Carolina and has complied 41-22 record.

Jenks comes to Martin County from Millbrook High School where over the past three years he served as both offensive and defensive coordinators during different seasons.

A 2006 graduate from Elon University, he played for the Phoenix as an offensive linemen from 2002 through the 2005 seasons.

Jenks feels this is the perfect opportunity to take over a growing program and community. “You look at the history of Martin County athletics dating back to Williamston and Roanoke and there is a lot of pride and tradition in these communities,” he states. “And from the Superintendent on down to the County Athletic Director (Asim McGill) and school administration (Grantley Mizelle and AD Wes Hughes), this is a perfect opportunity to build a strong program.”

Additionally, the new mascot for the combined school could possibly be announced over the summer prior to the 2024 season.
