East Wake Football History

East Wake High School located in Wendell has a very interesting, yet very successful football history.  Originally built in 1965 as Vaiden Whitley High School, the school was rebranded as East Wake High School in the fall of 1977.

The original school colors were Columbia Blue and White, but in 1989 were changed to Blue and Gold to represent the student body of Zebulon High School.

Longtime head football coach Johnny Sasser was the most successful coach in school history.  He finished his career with a 160-87-5 coaching record.
