For more than six decades, David H. Diamont has distinguished himself as one of the best educators and football coaches in the state of North Carolina.  He has won over 300 games as a head football coach but has also served his community in the North Carolina House of Representatives, where he was elected to ten terms from 1974-92. 

On September 9, 2018, the football stadium at East Surry High School was renamed David H. Diamont Stadium.
