FloSports Scholarship Winners Announced FloSports Cross Country Scholarship

The NCHSAA is proud to announce the recipients of the prestigious FloSports Cross Country Scholarship, recognizing outstanding student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, and athletic achievement. This year’s honorees are Owen Alford and Lydia Hendren, who have significantly contributed to their respective teams and communities.
Owen Alford
Owen Alford, a student-athlete at New Hanover High School, has exemplified dedication and perseverance throughout his cross-country career. As a standout student-athlete, he has balanced academic success with his commitment to the sport, consistently pushing himself to excel. His leadership on and off the course has set an example for his teammates, showcasing his ability to inspire and motivate others. Through his hard work and determination, Owen has achieved personal milestones and contributed significantly to his team’s success.
Lydia Hendren
Lydia Hendren’s journey in cross country is a testament to her resilience and passion for the sport. She has continuously displayed a strong work ethic, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, both in competition and in her academic pursuits. Lydia’s leadership and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on her teammates at Alexander Central High School, and her ability to balance rigorous training with academic responsibilities highlights her outstanding character. FloSports Indoor Track Scholarship
The FloSports Indoor Track Scholarship recognizes outstanding student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in both athletics and academics. This year, two exceptional athletes, Owen Lee and Emma Parrish, have been awarded this prestigious scholarship for their remarkable achievements in indoor track and field.
Owen Lee
Owen Lee has been a dominant force in indoor track, consistently excelling in multiple events throughout his high school career. His dedication to the sport, combined with his academic success, has earned him this well-deserved scholarship. Owen’s commitment to training, sportsmanship, and leadership has set him apart as a role model in the track and field community. Owen is currently a senior student-athlete attending Apex Friendship High School.
Emma Parrish
A standout athlete from John A. Holmes High School, Emma Parrish has proven to be an exceptional competitor in indoor track. With multiple state qualifications in relay events and a strong record of academic achievement (holding a 3.6 GPA), Emma has showcased her ability to balance sports, academics, and community service. Her leadership as a scholar-athlete and her dedication to mentoring younger students highlight her well-rounded character. Emma plans to continue her education at Old Dominion University or East Carolina University, pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene while continuing to make an impact in athletics and beyond.

The FloSports Outdoor Track and Field Scholarship recognizes outstanding high school track and field athletes who excel both on and off the track. These two remarkable student-athletes, Chase Coughlin and Emory Taylor, have been selected as scholarship recipients for their dedication, achievements, and commitment to excellence.
Chase Coughlin
