1A Regionals Kick Off NCHSAA Championship Week

Wilson Prep defeats Bertie 62-46 | Box Score
Led by 16 points from Leslie Minter, the Wilson Prep Tigers advanced to the NCHSAA 1A State Championship Game on Friday with a 62-46 win over the Bertie Falcons.
The Tigers took control of the game early as they started the game on a 10-0 run and finished the first quarter up 23-7. The two teams played the final three quarters even. David Ellis had 11 points and 17 rebounds for the Tigers and Josh Hicks added 13 points and three steals. For the Falcons, Trevon Halleran had 16 points and four rebounds.
Corvian Community edges South Stokes | Box Score
Corvian Community held off South Stokes in the 1A West Regional Final 53-41 to earn a spot in the State Championship on Friday against Wilson Prep.
The Cardinals were led by 15 points from R.J. Moore Jr., and a double-double from Jack Hudson who had 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Sauras had a pair of scorers in double digits as Korrin N’Diaye had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Barry Hairston Jr., added 10 points.
East Columbus tops East Bladen 76-66 | Box Score
A pair of double-doubles powered East Columbus past East Bladen 76-66 in the first game of the NCHSAA Regional Championships.
Malia Graham had 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Gators and Chynna Patrick added 17 points and 16 boards. For the Eagles, Laila Smith poured in 36 points and NeNe Ward added 19.
East Columbus will face Cherokee in 1A NCHSAA Women’s Championship Game on Friday.
Cherokee topples Mountain Heritage 64-51 | Box Score
Three Cherokee Lady Braves scored in double figures as they advanced to the State Championship game with a 64-51 win against Mountain Heritage.
Whitney Rogers led all scorers with 17 points and both Daisee Fourkiller-Raby and Creedon Arch added 10 points. For the Cougars, Ava Webb had 15 points, Keira Wilson added 14 and Lilly Neill chipped in with 10.
Cherokee jumped out to an early lead and led 20-8 after the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the way.
