South Carolina dominates Tarheels for 24-0 Shrine Bowl victory

South Carolina’s defense smothered the Tarheel squad en route to a convincing 24-0 shutout win over North Carolina in the 87th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

Appalachian State-bound quarterback Matthew Wilson from Rock Hill was named the game’s most outstanding player.  Wilson’s two touchdown passes paired with the ferocious Sandlapper defense sealed the deal for the South squad.

Hough High’s Nolan Hauser, the Clemson-bound specialist was North Carolina’s offensive MVP. He averaged 42.7 yards on 12 punts. Landan Callahan from Reagan HS in Pfafftown was the N.C. team’s defensive MVP after having a team-high nine tackles and one interception.
