Week 2’s Top-25 Roundup

It’s been an exciting week of football across the state of North Carolina.  There have been some surprise winners, shocking point totals, and we’ve seen several substantial streaks that came to an end.

High Octane

Speaking of high output.  The Air Raid attack at Hobbton High has put up some serious numbers in the first two games of the season.  On Monday, the Wildcats lost to Midway 80-73 but scored 92 on Friday en route to a 92-62 win over Trask.  In that exciting game that was more like basketball on grass, quarterback Loden Bradshaw completed 24 of 37 passes for 386 yards and six touchdowns.  He hit four different receivers for touchdowns while running back Bobby Dial rushed for 255 yards on 21 carries for five touchdowns.

Streaks, Streaks, and More Streaks

Some longtime scoring streaks came to an end on Friday.  Middle Creek blanked Garner 22-0 on Friday ending the Trojans 146-game scoring streak.  With Maiden’s 47-0 victory over Watauga, it snapped the Pioneers’ 99-game scoring streak.

In Western NC, Madison defeated North Buncombe 47-24 to snap a 26-game losing streak.  That streak was the second-longest losing streak in the state.
