I’m sure they have well I hope they have went after Stevenson from Glenn he is one of the best athletes to ever play for HPC.

If they could somehow convince him to leave Glenn and come home , that would be an absolute homerun. I don’t See that happening, so i would expect some Coordinators from the area to apply and for one to get the job. I don’t see a current HC leaving there program for this one . Just my opinion tho

Its tough to see how the High Point schools have fallen on such hard times.   At one time HPA and HPC could have had their choice of coaches in the area now they are hoping for coordinators to apply.  Hate to see it

The young men in High Point need guidance some of the best athletes in the city went to the streets. HPC has loss so much talent to the streets the feeding school to HPC believe went undefeated the last two years think last year two kids ended up at Dudley this year.

Glenn should be loaded for next season. I could be wrong. But i Don't think Stevenson will leave Glenn anytime soon.

Nope.  Too many headaches teaching wise in Guildford and they don't match coaching pay!!!

The AD has spoken to candidates but his hands are tied waiting on admin. If it was his choice a hire would have been made by now.

@CarolinaNiner you’re correct about Ferndale Middle (HPC feeder school). The last couple of years they crushed other teams. And it was more than two that went to Dudley.

The 5 coaches who interviewed were

Brandon Wiggins ( former HC @ Smith)

Sherman Howze ( HC @ Chatham Central)

Tripp Honeycutt ( OC @ North Davidson )

Maurice Torain ( DC @ Northeast Guilford )

Jacob Sheffield ( Special Teams Coordinator @ Page )

Out of those 5 , who is best candidate?

I’ve heard a lot of buzz on Honeycutt and Torain. Supposedly they were former teammates in college which is interesting . I think Wiggins and Howze have a shot just because of HC experience, but i think it’ll be one of the Coordinators who get it .

I would go with Wiggins because he really did a lot with very little at Smith, but they all have their strengths, and neither would be a bad choice.  Howze absolutely can't be judged on W's and L's at Chatham Central, he's done as good as could be expected.

I don’t no nothin bout any1 but Tripp , but whoever hires him as there head coach will be happy for years to come . He knows football but that’s not why he will be great. He will be great cause he comes from a great family and is a great person . As a Blackknight fan I hope he never leaves , but he will be great wherever he is at

I’ve talked to numerous people regarding each candidate trying to get a better understanding of who they are . All of them seemed to be great men, but 2 gained the highest praise from others and it wasn’t even close : Honeycutt & Scheffield. I was shocked to hear some of the stuff from BIG time HC’s around the triad about the both of them . I hope , for HPC fans and community sake , they hire the best candidate. Not the easy hire, but the one who will turn that thing around .

Why hire a coach with a previous proven losing record if you are trying to change a losing program into a winner?  Why do coaches that lost at a "bad football school" get a free pass from some people?

Why do AD's and Admin staff place so much stock in the HC label on a resume, instead of hiring the best fit for the job, school and players?

Curious?

Agreed . I don’t always understand that either . Are any of the Coordinators ready is the question .
