Young Coaches Clinic

Recommended Posts

My name is Adam Purzitza and I am an Assistant at Hoggard High school In Wilmington. I am wanting to put together a clinic for young up and coming coaches. Preferably guys who are assistants, and early coordinators with goals to become a head coach. I would like to set it up like your typical clinic with presentations on positions groups, game planning, organizational aspects, etc. I think this could be a good thing for young guys to network, learn from one another, and talk football with guys who are wanting to climb the coaching ranks. This idea just came up today and is still very early in the planning process. I am hoping for a time frame on a Saturday in Wilmington before Spring ball begins.

If you are interested in presenting/attending shoot me an email, adam.purzitza@nhcs.net. Or send me a direct message on twitter @CoachPurzitza

I hope you intend to have several successful current head coaches to serve as facilitators at this clinic. They are a wealth of information and can provide a lot of how to/what to and how not to/what not to do items. One thing you do need to include is a section on coaching responsibilities before and after practice. I say this because what I see are young coaches who have the attitude that all they are suppose to do is show up at the beginning of practice and leave as soon as practice is over. They don't feel like they should be involved in what I call Grunt Work. They are fine with someone else doing these things that need to be done. Many young head coaches are just as bad. I have been lucky that most head coaches (not all) were all aware of what is needed in this area and assign every assistant coach specific duties (equal in amount)  and hold each coach accountable in making sure each coach fulfills his responsibilities. I have also had head coaches who assign these duties but never follow up on them and the end result is they never get done.
