Do the West have any young guns in the NBA playing now? The Eastern part of North Carolina is flooded with young talent in the NBA right now.

Jager Gardner at Temple from Owen and Rico Dowdle at South Carolina from ACR could make an NFL roster somewhere.  Unfortunately Jager broke his ankle a couple weeks back so that is gonna hurt his chances to show out for some teams but that kid works hard and will bounce back

I actually watched Maybin play basketball for TC Roberson.  Saw them lose to West Rowan in the Regional Final over at East Burke.  I was not aware he was an amazing baseball player at that time.

Grant Williams is on the Celtics.  He played for Providence Day a few years ago.

The Martin twins are on Charlotte's roster.  They played at Davie County.

Greg Holland (McDowell) was the Rolaids relief man of the year with Kansas City.  He has close to 200 career saves (if not more).

Leon Johnson, who set records at UNC, had a journeyman career in the NFL (Jets, Bears and Chargers).  Kerri Gardin played for the Washington Mystics in the WNBA-both are Freedom alums.

Artis Gilmore McDowell nba

tom Burleson Avery high Seattle SuperSonics ncstate.

It was Newland HS when Burleson played.  I think he made an all state team three or four times (all classes).

Artis Gilmore went to Gardner Webb when it was a JUCO before playing at the University of Jacksonville (lost to UCLA in the title game).  He was from Alabama.  Did not play high school ball in NC.

His mother drove him to Charlotte to play youth baseball one summer.  Never missed a practice or a game.

James Worthy Ashbrook:Lakers

Saw him play in high school against DeMatha and in the state title game his sophomore year against cross town rival, Hunter Huss.  Yes, that was the state championship.  Ashbrook had defeated Huss four times that season but lost in the season finale as their star, future Georgetown Hoya and NBAer, Sleepy Floyd, had a huge night,
