Richlands is coming off of a very solid 7-5 season from a year ago, and the Wildcats are expecting an even better showing in 2019.  On the other side, East Duplin has become regular contender in the 2A classification and they're always a threat to make a deep playoff run.

Last season, the Panthers routed Richlands 63-12 in the season-opener, but a more experienced Wildcats team may be up for the challenge in 2019.

East head coach Battle Holley graduated four of his top five rushers from a season ago, with Keyon McClarin (Jr.) being the top returner this season.  In limited carries, he rushed for 345 yards and reached the end zone 3 times.  A key returner on the defensive side of the football will be the hard-hitting Russell Gaby (Jr.), who recorded 93 tackles as a sophomore.

While Richland's wasn't a passing team, they do return quarterback Caleb Blankenship (Sr.) who rushed for 599 yards.

COACHING MATCHUP:

Gene Boley is in his fourth season at Richlands and has posted a 17-18 record.

Battle Holley is in his ninth season leading East Duplin, and owns a 103-41 coaching record.
