TW Andrews head coaching opening

hopefully they got somebody committed to the program.  the first year will certainly be a challenge in getting things on track and installing a system and expectations, but if you can get the kids to buy in, this one could be a gig that bears fruit pretty quickly, especially in 2A, and maybe even 1A the way their enrollment is going

HPA should never be in the shape it's in.  It's a great and respectable program, HPA's fans deserve better. It's a shame what leadership and their priorities can do.

HPA woulda do awesome at the 1AA level.  Imagine them and Tarrboro in the eastern finals one year.. wow.

It’ll happen sooner than later (1AA for Andrews) if they don’t redistrict and put traditional Andrews neighborhoods back in district.  Andrews primary feeder middle school down to 350 kids and GCS considering closing it and consolidating with Griffin Middle.  If not, Southwest Guilford will continue to have good football teams and basketball teams with many kids that would traditionally be at Andrews.

I can imagine?  HPA is not ready for that level yet.  Tarboro works 365 days a year.  It will have to be a commitment to Administration to get that done in High Point

Don't know much about the existing AD, however, I do know they interviewed a potential AD that attended TWA and was a state championship coach there and other schools.  He is very respected, connected and could have helped TWA get some new teacher/coaches in there to grow those programs that have faltered.  The facilities have went down also and need someone to get them back in good shape.  Too much talent in the hallways not to be competitive in football, wrestling, basketball and track every year.

I have a friend who feels they have talent in most sports. He says they lack big guys coming out for the line play. Wrestling had a great run. Don’t know what transpired the last five years there. He’s says they have not committed to quality coaches who want to work the halls and just wait for those who show up on the first day of practice. Any coach who does that is lazy.

Too much turnover in administration has led to some half ass hiring processes, both head coaches and assistants.   Turnover in staff has led to inconsistency in the off-season with field time and work outs.  Talent is there in spots, certainly enough to be good every year.  Again, there’s big time talent within 5 minutes of the school that Southwest Guilford is living off of that needs to return to Andrews, not for athletic reasons although it would help, but for socio-economic reasons  to help balance the school to what it once was.

Apparently they have little idea what they are doing in terms of searching for and hiring a head FB coach, A friend of mine sent in his resume weeks ago and he has yet to hear from them.

He did all of this before the new hire. It is always good for public relations to call each applicant even when they are not hired.

Andrews hired Mitchell Jenkins as the head coach.  He is from Georgia from the information I was given.

going the distance right on point. when Andrews was rolling, they could play with anybody at any level.  when that stadium was packed, it was some atmosphere.
