Welp, PG went to Siler City and ruined JM's special night.  Girls won 66-61 and the guys followed that up with a 77-66 triumph.

The JM girls played a great, great game though.  In the first half, senior Jocelyn Mitchell was en fuego.  She hit at least four threes and not a single one touched the rim.  JM was doing a great job of passing and finding the open Jet inside.  PG played a horrid first half.  Malea Garrison single-handidly kept the Pats in the game.  She hit a couple of threes and converted a few drives to the cup.  JM led by four at the break.

A couple of minutes into the second half, PG finally breaks out of the funk.  They turn up the fullcourt pressure and start to frustrate JM a little.  Garrison continues her stellar play.  She works hard to get open and scores back-to-back buckets off the inbounds.  Later on, she hits some big, big threes.  Madison Dark has some success driving to the cup, getting fouled, and hitting free throws.  Meanwhile, Edi Austin is playing some outstanding defense.

In the fourth quarter, however, it was two other Pats who had big, big moments.  Kaitlyn Sexton,  who had been in a bad shooting slump, hit a three from the right corner to give PG a two-point lead.  With less than a minute left, backup post Aubrey Mason hit a huge free throw to make it a two possession game.  Meanwhile, JM went cold at the absolute worst time.  They couldn't hit anything in the fourth quarter.  Garrison hit a few free throws at the end to shut the door on the freezer (as "Ray-Ray" would say).

The JM guys had a great game as well.  Especially senior Caleel Walden.  PG had no answer for this guy.  Many times, Walden would take guys off the dribble and finish in the paint using his strong frame.

In the fourth quarter, JM held a ten-point lead.  Then, Daylin Locklear and Jordan Hodges took over.  Primarily Locklear.  Locklear calmly hit back-to-back threes to slice the deficit in half. Then, Locklear got a steal, drove to the cup, and got fouled.  He sank both free throws.   Hodges then hits a huge three of this own.  Seconds later, Locklear creates and hits Hodges with a nice pass.  Hodges drains the easy 15 footer to extend PG's lead.  I think Johnathon Foust had a big bucket during that stretch as well.  Foust played well again tonight.

PG really killed JM on the screen-and-roll tonight.

I can't say enough about Locklear.  He's one of the coolest, unflappable players I've ever watched.
