Cuthbertson Now Open

Recommended Posts

After a meeting with players this morning, David Johnson has resigned as Head Football Coach at Cuthbertson High School. I will let Chris talk about potential replacements, but just adding to the openings for this year.

What type of job is this? No one mentions it any names?

Physically, Cuthbertson was one of the better looking teams we faced all season. Good size and athleticism, but lack a lot.

Great facilities in a really good, fast growing area. No clue on how admin support is, Id contact Tim Winters he is the Union County guru. He’d have more info

No question they will be 4a unless the county does another realignment. Marvin Ridge will join them in 4a. Both schools well over 1700 kids this year.

Cuthbertson has hired Trey Kavanaugh as the next HC of the program. Comes from Ardrey Kell and is the grandson of former App State HC and HOFer Jerry Moore.

I don’t know him but just going off the background he should be a solid pick up for the Cavaliers of Cuthbertson but He is young so will have see how he does!

Coming from AK. He has a lot of experience in losing.

Work, what was the deal with them winning their conference but having a losing record recently? Was it last season?

One of the biggest cupcake programs in Charlotte.  Parents run the program.

They went 0-5 in out of conference play. Lost only one game in conference and drew straws with Providence and West Meck to decide playoff seeding and AK drew the 1 seed. They finished the regular season 5-6 and lost to Vance in second round to finish 5-7.

Historically AK has underachieved. There is no reason why they shouldn't have a winning record every year, but I do not think the administration is the easiest to work with and bringing in assistant coaches can be very tough as well if you get hired and want to develop some sort of staff.

Work has a point about parents having a lot of influence in the program, a lot more than most schools.

The toughest issue in the past has been building a staff.  Do not understand that the coach needs to build "his" staff.
