  1. Heritage makes the trip to Reidsville a few rounds later than last year. Heritage played some great ball last night, Reidsville handled South Columbus. This is what everyone expected when the year began and now it's here!
  2. Hendo peaking, Heritage rolling, Should be a huge game and a great one at E.L Briggs!
  3. Congrats to the cougars on another fine season, baring any shocker friday night we are looking at a 2 over-all seed in the West and HOPEFULLY wont leave home till the regional final! Look forward to seeing some great teams heading our way! It'll be awesome to get the mountain weather and the grass of the pit through November, Maybe even December? we'll see! Congrats to everyone for great years and lets get ready to start up season 2!
  4. The Showdown at the Hill highlights the 1A west playoffs. The Raptors of Mountain Island travel to traditional Murphy. Can the Raptors handle the pressure down by the river? Mitchell hosts Cherokee in a rematch of week two, a 21-0 Mitchell win. Will this week be different for the upstart Braves against the defending 1AA west champs? Hendersonville faces their toughest test of the season against the loaded Wolves. Pisgah travels to Belmont to face one of the most consistantly good programs in NC, South Point. Can the Black Bears slow down the Redbone enough to advance? Weddington has a history of knocking MAC teams out of the playoffs and are looking for the upset tonight at Dalton Stadium. The Rockets seem to behitting their stride at the right time of the season. 3AA (#2)Weddington @ (#1) AC Reynolds: ACR 37-33 3A (#2)Pisgah @ (#1) South Point: South Point 28-23 2A (#3) Hendersonville @ (#1) Lincolnton: Lincolnton 48-34 1A (#2) Mountain Island @ (#1) Murphy: Murphy 42-17 (#4) Cherokee @ (#2) Mitchell: Mitchell 29-23
  5. With the new seeding being use this year being based on overall win percentage what do you think will be the cut off? Will a .500 be good enough? Higher or lower?
  6. 4A West Top Bracket: #1 Dudley vs. McDowell #8 Watauga vs. #9 Southwest Guilford -- #5 Reagan vs. #12 A.L. Brown #4 South Caldwell vs. #13 High Point Central Bottom Bracket: #3 Charlotte Catholic vs. #14 Vance #6 T.C. Roberson vs. #11 Seventy-First -- #7 North Davidson vs. #10 Southeast Guilford #2 Scotland vs. #15 Davie My opinion: This is a very competitive bracket from top to bottom, but there are certainly some favorites and potential upsets. I don't think anyone will argue that Dudley is a shoe-in for the third round. Who they face is the big question. I feel this Friday's game between Reagan and Kannapolis will be the clash that determines who faces off against the Panthers. I feel Kannapolis is the favorite based on physical toughness, strength of defense, and strength of competition and schedule. While I've seen both teams multiple times, I feel Kannapolis not only has the offensive weapons to keep pace with Reagan's high-octane offense, but the Wonders more importantly have the defense to stop them in crucial situations. While I'm going to stop short of making this an out-right win for the boys in green, it's certainly the best game in the 4A this week and one I'm certain to see. High Point Central will be a tall task for South Caldwell. While I feel the Spartans could pull it off, I think both will face a potential stopping block against either Kannapolis or Reagan. The bottom bracket is just as interesting. While Charlotte Catholic is a machine and those kids are extremely well coached and run their system to perfection, I'd be scared to death to face Vance. I don't think, I know that Vance has the talent to stop the Catholic season and they could easily advance all the way to the finals as a #14 seed. However I do think Catholic will find a way to pull away late, but I won't call the shot and claim Catholic wins easy. This will be a fight. I think Seventy-First will give T.C. Roberson all kinds of fits and regardless of the long drive, the Falcons will come home victorious and most likely face Catholic, but we could also see a Vance at Seventy-First matchup win the second round as well, be prepared. North Davidson should have the firepower to beat Southeast Guilford but they could be deflated a bit after Friday's emotional win over West Forsyth. I think Mark Holcombe can find a way to get his troops grounded after that big win. Finally though, it's my opinion that they're all playing for second because I see Scotland going all the way to the 4th round and most likely defeating Dudley for the right to play for the championship.
  7. 4AA East Top Bracket: #1 Middle Creek vs. #16 Leesville Road. #8 Wakefield vs. #9 Millbrook -- #5 Fuquay-Varina vs. #12 Green Hope #4 Garner vs. #13 Northwest Guilford Bottom Bracket: #3 Wake Forest vs. #14 Laney #6 Page vs. #11 Lumberton -- #7 Richmond vs. #10 Holly Springs #2 Jack Britt vs. #15 Heritage My opinion: I think the Leesville Rd. vs. Middle Creek game will be very exciting and could see 75 points put up between the two teams. In the end though, I think Middle Creek has the offensive firepower to persevere its way to the Regional Round. Millbrook could be a roadblock though to Randy Ragland's Mustangs, I feel in my gut that the Millbrook has more defensive playmakers in the tank than Wakefield and they could pose a threat to Middle Creek if they advance. Even with the 10-1 record, Fuquay-Varina will struggle a bit with Green Hope, and I actually give the Falcons a fair chance to pull the upset against their close-by conference foe. Garner is the toughest team physically and I see Thurman Leach pounding the rock and most likely facing Middle Creek in the third round. However in recent years, Middle Creek's just been too much for the Trojans. The bottom bracket is where the fun is. Wake Forest will take Laney I feel but that should setup a great game between Page in round two. I've seen Page and I know the athleticism they possess and this has a very high potential of being the first major upset of the 4AA bracket. Richmond and Jack Britt should be on a collision course for the second round and I feel we'll see a Richmond vs. Page game in the third round. (However, Britt or Wake are both just was likely to advance. Not trying to sell either short.) This should setup a fun Regional Round matchup between Middle Creek and Richmond. Obviously the storylines will be great as Mike Castellano takes his new team on the road to face his old team. If they meet, I certainly will give the advantage to the Raiders. I feel Richmond comes out of the bracket.
  8. 4AA West Top bracket: #1 East Forsyth vs. #16 Olympic #8 Independence vs. #9 Lake Norman -- #5 West Forsyth vs. #12 North Mecklenburg #4 Mooresville vs. #13 Myers Park Bottom bracket: #3 Butler vs. #14 Providence #6 Mallard Creek vs. #11 East Mecklenburg -- #7 South Mecklenburg vs. #10 Ardrey Kell #2 Hough vs. #15 West Mecklenburg My opinion: I think the top bracket is very manageable, in fact I would say it's borderline easy and should be easy for East Forsyth to navigate its way to the semi-finals. I do think a potential East Forsyth vs. West Forsyth game in the 3rd round could get interesting. I do feel West Forsyth is strong enough to take down Mooresville, and while Independence could very well upset East Forsyth (if they manage to take down Lake Norman which isn't a given), I think East will make it to the regional round. The bottom bracket however is this year's "BRACKET OF DEATH". It's a certain that the games between Butler and Mallard Creek in the 2nd round, South Meck vs. Hough, and the potential rematch of Mallard Creek vs. Hough, or throw in South Meck, and the second and third rounds look straight up nasty. In the end, I still see it being East Forsyth vs. Mallard Creek in the Regional Finals.
  9. Middle Creek grabs the #1 seed out of the East in the 4AA playoffs. They come into this game averaging just under 37 points a game and giving up just over 14. Leesville has played some good teams, and has given up a lot of points to those teams. Do they have anything for Middle Creek?

  14. I will be listing teams that will probably end up drawing for conference position throughout the week. As soon as anyone knows the results of these draws please let me know. I know in the past some conferences have drawn early before the games are played Friday just in case. We all want the final projections Friday night to be as accurate as possible
