  1. Southside seeking a game. Weel 11, October 30. Please contact AD, Coach Q (aquinerl@beaufort.k12.nc.us) and/or HC, Coach Carrow (jcarrow@beaufort.k12.nc.us)
  2. Reidsville bring thier high powered defense into this state final against a familiar foe, Northeastern. The Eagles fell 31-28 to the Rams last season and are looking for a little revenge. Reidsville has scored a ton of points this season (771) but the defense is what impresses me. They have posted eight shut outs and held their opponents to a paltry 124 points all season. 55 of those came from 1A East Surry. Northeastern also fell to a 1A team, losing to Homes High School. This should be a better game than the 11 am game.
  3. It was announced his morning that David Wojtecki will no longer be the head football coach at J.H. Rose in Greenville. He led the Rampants to the 2015 4A state championship game, narrowly losing to Charlotte Catholic, and posted a 58-32 record. Prior to his stint at Rose, he was the head coach at Halifax County high school in Virginia.
  4. Both teams come into this game with one loss. Both teams have been a surprise thus far in the Eastern Carolina 3A/4A. Aycock has shown to be the team out of Wayne county making strides this year. A win for Aycock would put the rest of the conference on high alert. As for the Bears they will look to bounce back from the Conley game and show they are still a factor in the conference. A win for the Bears would do just that and get them back on track against a team that is feeling pretty good coming in. This will be one to keep an eye out for this week to see what unfolds. Will it be a close game? Can Aycock pull the upset? Can New Bern get the win and go about business the rest of the way? Your thoughts below....
  5. John Paul II, a first year 8 Man program was informed over the weekend that they will be a number 4 seed in the 1A 8 Man playoffs, only problem is that they where put in the 2A conference due to their facilities, not the enrollment and are scheduled to play St. David's. The NCISAA knew about this potential problem when they finalized the schedule back in the summer, but thought a first year program would not be able to make the playoffs. Numerous attempts by John Paul II have been made to the NCISAA for help, but no action or response has taken place. So now, John Paul II will basically play like the MLB teams do in spring training, and have split squads to cover both games. 9 players will go to the St. David's game, mostly JV players, and 14 will go to Halifax for the playoff game. Really a terrible job by the NCISAA with this happening, the student athletes should come first, and in this case they are not. Shame on you NCISAA.
  6. I know Tarboro will be heavily favored, but will this be a game of running the clock? Can Pamlico offense score against Tarboro defense?Could this be like a 50-14 game? Any thoughts?
  7. Southwest Edgecombe looks really good IMO the best team since the 2015 team, that lost in heartbreaking fashion in the 4th round to Kinston in overtime 22-21. Which begs the question is the finally the year it all comes together for SouthWest Edgecombe and they win a state championship? I know a lot depends on weather they go 2a or 2aa but they'll be a tough out.

    Tarboro vs South creek

After a bye week the Tarboro Vikings begin their conference schedule with a home game against south Creek. Last time Tarboro played it was a hard fought victory against a great SWE team 24-7 don't let the final score fool you it was much closer. Can Tarboros defense build off of their outstanding performance? Or can south creek pull of the upset?
  9. I know this is really small time football with it being 8 man and the smaller division at that, but heard there was a brawl that included the coaching staffs from both sides, anyone have any more info on it?
  10. In a makeup game from Hurricane Dorian, North Duplin defeated Jones Senior 48-6 last night in varsity action. North improves to 3-2 while Jones falls to 0-5. Jones will have another tough battle this Friday as they face Northside.
  11. Battle of unbeaten teams next week face off in the eagles nest!! I expect a huge crowd but the eagles will be ready all 4 wins have been on the road in tough environments aces haven't beat the eagles in the regular season since 2012 I expect that to stay the same if I had to make a score prediction Aces 26 Eagles 38 🦅🦅🦅 as we will stay undefeated and then get ready for another battle in 2 weeks at home vs 3A state power Havelock
  12. It was a great night for football and with all the hype leading up to the kickoff, it was epic Tarboro/SWE. The VIKINGS fell behind 7-0 in the second quarter but would shutdown the high powered offense of SWE putting up 24 unanswered points. VIKINGS QB Kimani McDaniels led the VIKINGS with 2 TDs( a 43yd QB keeper and a 90yd pick six). This VIKING team still has some work to do but they should be in rare form once the post season starts
  13. The Saints from John Paul II started their football history with a bang on Thursday night, beating Community Christian 68-8. http://www.reflector.com/High-Schools/2019/08/30/Saints-win-big-in-debut.html
  14. I know Gates had a really good season last year and first flight always is decent I'm curious to know if they have ever played before?? I know most people on here don't know much about the area I'm in but ik very intrigued by this game the big hogs of Gates vs the speed of First flight and this will be the opening game for both teams too my score prediction I'll say Gates county 34 - First Flight 17
  15. One of the more anticipated games of the year, and if it wasn't for the Dutch Fork vs. Mallard Creek contest, I would probably be at this game. Havelock is one of the most talented teams in the state, and despite the coaching change, I still expect them to be a force in the 3A ranks. On the flip side, Dillion is one of the perennial favorites year in and year out in South Carolina. I watched these guys last week give Scotland all they could handle, and I totally expect this to be a street fight. I remember a few years ago watching Mallard Creek play Dillon (at Dillon), and it was an uphill battle in regards to not only fighting the Wildcats, but also fighting the zebras, who wasn't keen on a N.C. team coming into their state and embarrassing their team. COACHING MATCHUP: Jackie Hayes is in his 27the year at Dillon, he has posted a 303-53 record. Allen Wooten is in his first year at Havelock, he owns a 39-34 record.
  16. This Rivalry has been rekindled. These 2 haven't played each other since the early to mid 90s. Any thoughts or predictions. I will say this match up could go either way by score 14-7.
  17. If the last two years are any indicator, fans will be in for a treat this Friday in Elizabeth City as D.H. Conley travels up Highway 17 to take on Northeastern. It's my opinion that Northeastern is the best 2A team in Eastern NC this season, and Conley is always among the top 3A teams from the East, so this should be a good ol' fashion donnybrook. Previous Contests: 2018: Northeastern won 42-34 2017: Northeastern won 55-49 in OT COACHING MATCHUP: Antonio Moore is in his 15th season leading the Eagles, he has a 152-40 record. Nate Conner is entering his fifth season at Conley and has posted a 39-13 record.

  19. How is Trey Robinson not on the NC Shrine Bowl roster? I understand he may not have the QB stats to make it as a QB but as a RB or Athlete, or DB/LB? its insane to have a kid of this caliber who leads WNC in career rushing, career TD and single season TD scored not on a roster with the state's best. This has to be a inadvertent oversight and not a purposeful omission on the part of the NC coaching staff. And this is a call to correct that oversight. Trey Robinson has been a force for Mountain Heritage football now for 4 years. With him as their starting QB, Mountain Heritage has went 41-12 over the past 4 years, and excluding the freshman campaign of 6-6 they are 35-6. The following accomplishments are indicative not only of Trey but of all his team-mates and their countless hours of hard work and dedication to Mountain Heritage football. Those kids deserve the right to have their efforts represented by Trey in this game. Trey Robinson: 2017 Attempts: 344 Yards: 3146 (1st in the State 4th in the Nation) YPC; 9.1 YPG; 224.7 Rushing TD: 45 (9th All time in NC) 12th in the Nation Points scored: 316 avg of 22.6 a game 1st in the State (5th in the Nation) Career-wise: Trey is the only player in NC history to rush for 8000 and pass for 4000 Broke Johnny Frasier's record of 50 points scored in a game with 52 vs Whiteville Career Attempts: 1117-3rd All time in NC Yards: 8552 -6th All time in NC Rushing TD: 109 -5th All time in NC behind McClendon, Parks, Hood and Henry Total Yardage: 12,933 3rd All time in NC behind Leak and Surratt Points Scored: 765 3rd All time in NC behind McClendon and Parks Touchdown Responsibility: 170 4th All time behind Surratt, Leak and McClendon -Passing-wise Trey was 42-91 for 851 yards 13 TD and 4 INT -Career Passing 231-485 4381 yards 61 TD 29 INT -Rushed for 100 or more yards in every game, 200 or more 8 times and 300 or more twice in 2017 for his career: 100 or more yards 43 times, 200 or more 10 times. 3rd all time in NC with 43 100 yard games behind Parks and Henry -Defensively Trey saw action in 16 quarters on the year (mostly in the playoffs and sparingly through-out the regular season) and recorded 60 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 4 INT and 10 pass break ups from the free safety position.
  20. Two teams from WNC made the finals and both have very good shots at bringing home the gold. For the first time since a loss in the 1978 final, Cherokee will try for a ring. The Braves potent offense and physical defense looks to shut down a very good Veer attack by North Duplin. Both teams can score, although with differing styles, and both play good defense. Coaching i think tips the odds in the Braves favor. AC Reynolds is back in the finals for the first time since winning in 2009. The rockets are 3-1 in the finals and have been on fire the last 5 weeks. The defense seems to be getting better each week. The Rockets are used to D1 level QBS as the have face one the last two weeks. The kid from New Hanover is another stud the Rockets will have to shut down. his 4,000 yards passing keeps that offense humming right along. this game is really a push, but I'm going to be a homer and go with the Rockets. I also want to pick a couple other games with ties to WNC. After Reidsville slipped by Mountain Heritage and Mount Airy dispatched Murphy I thought we all would be interested in those outcomes. 1A #2 Cherokee (13-1) @ #1 North Duplin (14-0): Cherokee 35-24 3AA #2 New Hanover (14-1) @ #2 AC Reynolds (14-1): ACR 31-28 1AA #1 Mount Airy (14-0) @ #1 Tarboro (14-0): Tarboro 37-14 2A #1 Wallace Rose-Hill (13-1) @ #5 Reidsville (15-0): Wallace 28-20
  21. WRH travels to Rocky Point Friday night to take on undefeated, upstart Trask. I'm sure Trask will be much improved, but I don't think it'll be close when the 2nd half rolls around. Too many weapons. WRH 48 Trask 7
  22. John A. Holmes HS in Edenton (2A) has an immediate opening for an assistant football coach. There is a PE teaching position available. The coaching position will most likely be on the defensive side of the football, and also expected to coach multiple sports at Holmes. Please send resumes to head football coach Paul Hoggard at phoggard@ecps.k12.nc.us and athletic director Wes Mattera at wmattera@ecps.k12.nc.us. The Aces finished 6-6 playing a tough 3A/4A non-conference schedule while advancing to the 2A playoffs in 2015 and have won 11 games three times in the previous five seasons.
  23. If Washington Beddingfield and SW Edgecombe end up in a 3 way tie how will that play out with the seeding. All the projections I see Beddingfield beating SWE
  24. I seen Plymouth play with 2AA contender Northeastern in a game that could have went either way
