    Toughest conference from 1A-4A

The mid state 2A is not a good conference. It is Reidsville and that’s it.
  2. Just my opinion, you've posted this twice. Guess there is a reason it's a -14 under your name.
  3. Could have no state title losses and still wouldn't worry about JV losses.

    Looking at the 3A class

We will be young next season. This sophomore and rising freshman class are incredibly loaded. Athletes across the board. Two freshmen could very well be on varsity and contribute during the season. Really excited about what we have.
  5. Easy to get tougher when you have players who came up through your system and understand the pride of playing for them. Hard to get that out of guys who are just there for a year.
  6. This is the post I was referencing above. Hough is an excellent example. All that recruiting and they have one regional final appearance to show for it.

    Tom Harper

Coach Harper is a great guy, good get for Lincolnton!
  8. Never said we were great or better, just stating what I saw on the field in a bizarre game. We had a chance at the end, didn't cash in. It isn't about wins on JV as much as it is player development. An earlier post alluded to several Richmond teams being undefeated on JV, but that not translating to the varsity level. 10-0 records on JV are a great sign, but not a sure fire indicator of future success. Especially when the majority of your success has been recruited onto your varsity program.

    West Rowan Job

Didn't Lippard just move jobs after 2 years somewhere?
  10. Undefeated, congrats. Lots of JV programs go undefeated. I coached against them. I said what I said. Good and talented, but not great.

    West Charlotte Hires

Only if he stays will he do good things. Got to bring stability to that program.
  12. Great? No. Not great, but good? Yes
  13. They have good talent on JV don't get me wrong, but just not on the level of their varsity these last few years which in all fairness their talent on varsity has been through the roof. Transfers do help quite a bit.
  14. Having coached against MPs JV squad a year ago I did not walk away impressed. We fumbled twice and they cashed in. Their QB made really no throws in the pocket, he made all his big throws on the run. They had talent don't get me wrong, but not to the level that they've had on varsity last few years. We also played that game with officials who told us they don't have to blow a whistle to end the play so *shrug* At least MP is playing tough teams and not dodging, we'll find out real quick how good they are this season.
  15. Southern Carolina 3A top two will be Weddington and Catholic. Catholic will be young next season with multiple freshman on varsity from one of the best 8th grade teams I've seen since 2014. Those 8th graders in 2014 left CC with 3 titles in 4 years. Weddington has 5 star do everything RB Will Shipley and excellent coaching. Think these two are top two. Marvin Ridge I feel comes in third with their QB McDermott coming back. After that I can see either Monroe, Cuthbertson or Parkwood finishing fourth with Sun Valley/Piedmont duking it out for last place. Monroe is the wildcard, always well coached and Knotts is the real deal on the field.
  16. That Olympic game could be a loss. Olympic has some great young talent and a good young coach. They could make some noise

    Butler

Not shocked. Change can be good for both sides. When Brodowicz was hired Catholic lost their OC (Retirement) and co-DC(Went to Hough). Brodowicz was other co-DC and that was after an in house hire. Both coordinators had been apart of 2 state titles and 3 runner-ups. The new Creek coach may want his guys. Stone will do well I think at Butler

    Since 1972 ...

If the NCHSAA does not recognize the titles then I agree that in your research which was excellent by the way that you shouldn't either. All of the programs listed are excellent programs worthy of the accolades they get. It does make some sense. I know there is pride with a lot of fans of the schools that were in the WNCHSAA, but just never understood if the titles were recognized. Thanks

Does the NCHSAA recognize WNCHSAA titles? I am confused as to if those are recognized by the state or not.
  20. Catholic. Many on the staff are alums or have been on for over 10 years. Same staff year in year out goes a long way.

    Top Playoff games you seen

Some others that come to mind from either stories I’ve heard or been to/coached in. 1978- Maiden/CC. Former CC OC said it was one of the most hostile environments he’s ever seen. Catholic loses 8-7, drops game winning TD pass late. 1985- Catholic/Newton-Conover. Catholic goes down 22-0 on the road and comes back to win 28-22 in OT. This was in the middle of the first time schools attempted to throw Catholic out for “recruiting”. The game winning TD was scored by a 150 pound diabetic running back. 2004- Catholic/Pisgah. Catholic beats Pisgah 27-21 in a back and forth game. Avenges 42-17 loss in 3rd round in 2002. 2004- Catholic/Monroe. 47-33 Catholic beats Monroe in a shootout which saw RB Nic Starcevic run for over 300 yards and 5 TDs. 2004- Catholic/Bandys. Regional final. Rematch of 3rd round year before. Catholic shuts down star RB Chris Spade and wins 14-9, think I remember us forcing 3 fourth quarter turnovers to advance to state title game. 2004- Catholic/W Alamance. First title in 27 years. Catholic scores with 1 minute left. Hail mary comes up one yard short for WA. 2005- Catholic/Glenn. Catholic recovers a fumble on the goal line late and races it back as it looked like Glenn would take the lead. Won 20-7 after a late score. 2006-2008 AL Brown/CC games were also all classics.

    Top Playoff games you seen

    1. 2019 KM/Catholic In no particular order: 2018 Jax/CC, 2015 Rose/CC, 2014 and 2015 Vance/CC, 2012 Marvin Ridge/CC was underrated.

Will COVID-19 affect schedule or season?

I wouldn't be opposed to football being played in the spring/starting up in January with games in February if we need to postpone the fall season to better get a grip on this virus. I'm sure all options will be on the table, but doubt we will see an answer until June or July, and by then it may be a state by state issue. NC may have HS athletics in the fall while Wisconsin may not for example.

Put the Title on the line

It would be a third chance at us since we've beaten them in back to back years. However, nothing tops that 7OT game.
  25. Believe he was referring to West Cabarrus ending up in 4A.
