  1. Hmmmm..... interesting. I'm not aware of any of that back story. I'm just trying to get the most accurate details about schools and teams so that the product that is published is informative for the audience. I've been involved with producing some of the capsules - mostly in WNC - since the first FNF edition as a labor of ... love? Yeah, that's it, but I need help from coaches to report on their returning players and teams.

    Preseason Top-25 Rankings

A few quick thoughts at first blush, post FNF capsules grind ... from the West (is the best). I'm sure i'm overlooking folks, but all these teams seem valid entries in the pre-season Power Rankings. 1A - Pine Lake Prep and Community School of Davidson have the smell of title contenders - and they're in the same conference. East Wilkes has a lot of talent returning. 2A - East Lincoln lost a lot ... but they return a lot, too. Mountain Heritage has a talented QB and experience in the trenches. And then there's Shelby: reload, reload, reload, who's next? Whoa hey, Monroe, talk about reload. 3A - A.C. Reynolds is loaded on the line, with some good skill players. But ... secondary? What is it about Cleveland County water? Crest and Kings Mountain both have a wealth of talent and experience. Don't overlook Hibriten this year. 4A - Can anybody beat Mallard Creek? Or even slow down the Mavs? Maybe Butler. Maybe Charlotte Catholic - wouldn't it be nice to see those battles? Hough will get a chance to knock off MC, they may have enough experience returning to do it.
  7. DEADLINE IS LOOMING. Still have a few more schools to profile - and time is running out. Coaches, any assistance you can provide is great appreciated. It really helps me provide a more accurate preview of the season ahead and offer some spotlight to your hard-working athletes. MDW

  9. I'm picking them off one by one - many more to go. Thanks Coach Eddins at West Montgomery for seeing this post and sending me an email. Coaches, is your team on the list? I'd really appreciate an email to mdwillardmd@yahoo.com - let me know a good time to call. Or visit our website www.fnfsurvey.com. I want to make sure every team is thoroughly and accurately previewed in the FNF N.C. Magazine this summer. With your help we can do that!

  11. Coaches, fans and forum followers, The work on Friday Night Football N.C. Magazine’s annual season preview edition continues. We publish the preview this summer - every high school will receive one and others may be purchased online and at various news stands. With a summer publication date, the pressure is on to complete team capsules and other stories very soon. I’m working on the “West,” “Midwest” and “Charlotte” regions and am lacking about 70 teams. I’ll keep making calls and sending emails directly to the schools, but any assistance you can provide by completing the online survey at www.fnfsurvey.com will be a great help. The teams I haven’t heard from or talked to follow. I know some of these are on the coach’s moving van, but any insight into the teams and returning athletes that can be provided by a coach or AD will help us produce a more complete preview. Midwest Alexander Central, Ashbrook, Bandys, Fred T. Foard, Hickory, Carson, Kings Mountain, Newton-Conover, North Iredell, North Rowan, North Wilkes, South Caldwell, South Iredell, Statesville, Watauga, West Iredell, West Wilkes. West Andrews, Asheville School, Cherokee, Christ School, Erwin, Enka, Hayesville, Hendersonville, Madison, McDowell, Murphy, North Henderson, Pisgah, Polk County, Robbinsville, Rosman, Smoky Mountain, Swain County, T.C. Roberson, Thomas Jefferson Academy, Tuscola, Victory Christian Center. Charlotte Albemarle, Ardrey Kell, Berry Academy, Bessemer City, Butler, Cannon School, Cherryville, Community School of Davidson, Concord First Assembly, Concord Senior, East Lincoln, Forest Hills, Garinger, Harding, Hickory Ridge, Highland School of Technology, Hopewell, Independence, Jay M. Robinson, Monroe, Mooresville, Myers Park, North Mecklenburg, North Stanly, NW Cabarrus, Pine Lake Prep, Porter Ridge, Providence Day School, South Mecklenburg, Southlake Christian, Vance, West Charlotte, West Montgomery. Obviously, there are a lot of other teams across the state that will be profiled, and my colleagues at FNF N.C. Magazine will appreciate your assistance as well. Feel free to email me if you would like to share convenient time to call and discuss, mdwillardmd@yahoo.com. Thank you for any help you can provide. Michael Willard FNF N.C. Magazine

  13. Spring is here, and high school football practices (and the season!) will be here before we know it. Work is underway on the 2016 Friday Night Football Magazine North Carolina edition. Coaches - WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please take a few minutes and visit the online survey at www.fnfsurvey.com and share some insight on your team for the 2016 season. Deadline is looming to guarantee pre-season publication - any help you can provide is appreciated! (And visiting the survey site will save you from a bunch of phone calls and emails from me!) We're looking for details on returning impact players, strengths, weaknesses and your outlook for the season ahead. Plus, take a moment to share some details about your "unsung heroes" and they may get a special spotlight in this season's edition. FNF Magazine has produced a preview magazine for N.C. the past few summers - the publisher also produces similar products in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Texas. Every school that completes the survey receives a copy - and (hopefully) this is a great way to preview the teams, the student-athletes and the fans for the season ahead. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
