One new #1 in this week’s CP Top-25’s

After two weeks of the High School Football season here in the Carolinas, we’ve seen some major upsets, we’ve seen some thrilling victories, and we’ve seen a few top-tier teams stumble out of the gates.

Starting with upsets, Wilmington Hoggard took a bite out of Scotland County’s season when the Vikings defeated the then top-ranked Fighting Scots by a score of 24-7.  While Richard Bailey’s team won’t fall very far this week, they will drop from the number-one spot atop the 3A rankings.  Moving up to take their place will be the Dudley Panthers following their victory over Southeast Guilford.

The Lee County Yellow Jackets also stumbled, losing big to 4A power Glenn, 41-13 in Sanford, but like Scotland, Steve Burdeau’s Jackets won’t fall very far this week, partly due to the fact that the fourth-ranked Havelock Rams didn’t play last week.

The other top-ranked teams took care of business, but you’ll see in this week’s rankings that there were plenty of teams that shuffled positions and a few that dropped out completely.

If your team didn’t appear in this week’s Top-25’s, check back later this week to see where they are in our Extended Rankings.
