This should be an excellent game in Southeastern NC on Friday, as these are two very solid programs, both with great athletes, and great coaching staffs. You’d have to go back to before 2000 to find a season in which East Bladen didn’t win at least 7 games, and since the turn of the century, they’ve won 10+ games eleven times.
Wallace-Rose Hill is coming off a 9-4 season, and likewise, they’ve been thoroughly dominant for a long time, and have only had one real down season (2008) since the early 1980’s.
I caught the tail-end of East’s thorough whipping of Purnell Swett in the BSN Jamboree in Lumberton last week. The Eagles were very solid, very athletic, and looked the part of a top level 2A team.
The Bulldogs have an incredible backfield with two studs returning that can take it to the house at any time. I really like Cameren Dalrymple (Jr.) who’s got great breakaway (track speed) and can score from anywhere on the field, including kick returns. Kanye Roberts (So.) is a rising superstar in NC who also has great speed and quickness.
East senior Lawson Hester is very athletic and may have the mobility to try and slow down the Bulldogs running attack, but he’ll also be counted on to rack up some yards for the Eagles on offense too.
Kevin Motsinger is in his third season at Wallace-Rose Hill, and has a 120-62 coaching record.
Robby Priest is in his eighth season at East Bladen, and he has a 66-26 record.
