Doug Illing steps down at Socastee

MYRTLE BEACH  –  Former Davie County head coach Doug Illing has stepped down as the leader of the  Socastee HS program after six seasons leading the Braves.  He started the second chapter of his coaching career with a bang back in 2013, posting a  12-1 record in that first season with future Clemson star Hunter Renfrow as his signal-caller, but his programs were unable to maintain that level in the subsequent campaigns, only going 18-34 over the next five seasons.

His overall coaching record is 157-101 which included a runner-up finish in the 2010 4A Championship game.
