Enough time off, lets get back to football

As a few of you may have recognized, I’ve been noticeably absent in my coverage here at CarolinaPreps.com for the last few weeks.  Upon completion of the 2018 season, which concluded for me with the television broadcast of the 82nd Annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, I decided to take a much needed vacation.

Now I wouldn’t call my recent break a typical vacation though, because it did include attending a few coaching clinics, including the 2019 AFCA National Coaching Convention held in San Antonio; but I was able to check off a bucket list item of driving my car across the entire United States, and then returning back here to North Carolina.

During that adventure, I had the opportunity to visit a few top-level high school programs in Texas, which is always a fun thing to do, and of course it rekindled some fond memories from my years living and coaching in the Lone Star State.  I love how the schools, fans, and communities support high school football there; it is the standard for what Friday Night’s should be like, and something I long for here in the Tar Heel State.

Anytime you are able to hit the road on a cross-country adventure, it gives you plenty of windshield time to take a look back, and reevaluate the job that you’ve been doing, and also plot a course for your future endeavors.  While I certainly feel that our 2018 season here at CarolinaPreps.com, our 11th overall in covering football in North Carolina, was a good one; I think there is plenty of room for improvement, and I think I may have come away from the road trip with some new ideas to help bring you better coverage, and an even better experience for you here at CP.

The next few weeks will be spent attending even more coaching clinics, and over the next few months I’ll be making as many stops as possible to schools across the state, visiting with the football coaches and athletic directors, and working on finding all of the top football stories for the 2019 season.

As always, I want to thank each and every one of you for visiting with us here at CarolinaPreps.com, and I especially want to thank those of you that have been with us for the past decade, and have become regular contributors in the CP Fan Forums.

If you see me out on the road this spring and summer, be certain to throw your hand up and say hello, and just maybe I’ll see a few of you while visiting some of my favorite BBQ and burger joints across the state.
