Shrine Bowl ends in 10-10 tie

SPARTANBURG – In a game where the rules are tailored to produce an offensive showcase, the two defenses dominated the day and produced the first tie in nearly 70 years in the 82nd Annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

North Carolina controlled the game and the scoreboard for most of the afternoon, but a blocked punt in the latter stages of the fourth quarter enabled the Sandlappers of South Carolina to tie the Tar Heels 10-10, which would be the game’s final score.
