Three NC Coaches win State Championships in South Carolina

Columbia –  Three head football coaches with North Carolina roots won state football championships this weekend in South Carolina.

  • Donnie Kiefer, who coached at nine different North Carolina high schools from 1986 to 2016, won his first career state championship on Friday as he led his Green Sea-Floyds Trojans to the 1A State Title with a 26-20 victory over Lamar.  Kiefer now has a 240-160-4 overall coaching record.



  • Tom Knotts won his third-consecutive 5A State Championship on Friday as Dutch Fork crushed T.L. Hanna 59-20.  This was Knotts 11th state championship overall for his career and fourth at Dutch Fork.
