CP Top-20 Power Rankings following Week 7

The final weekend of September brought us some great games across the state of North Carolina.  While there are still a considerable amount of schools in the Eastern regions that have yet to hit the practice fields following Hurricane Florence, the majority of the state finished up non-conference play on Friday while other teams experienced some outstanding mid-season conference clashes.

The biggest change of the Week 7 CarolinaPreps.com Power Rankings presented by Palmetto Sports Fundraising is in the 4A classification.  While Wake Forest is still undefeated, they have dropped from the top spot to the second spot behind Mallard Creek.  The two top 4A squads have been in a virtual tie for the past few weeks, but having seen the Cougars for a second time this season in one quarter of action against Southern Nash, it was enough for me to finally pull the trigger on elevating Mallard Creek up to the top spot.

Remember, these Power Rankings are not a poll of sports writers or other contributors, they are designed to rank the top teams in North Carolina regardless of record.
