Electric Atmosphere Expected During Area’s New High School Football Showcase

Southlake, Texas – 151 Sports Marketing, a company specializing in quality amateur athletic events, is proud to announce the addition of Union Power Cooperative as the Title Sponsor of a new multi-game high school football showcase to be played on the turf at Monroe High School Stadium.

The Union Power Cooperative Gridiron Clash presented by ESPN Radio 730 AM will feature four outstanding match-ups on September 4th and 5th. Union County will be well-represented as Cuthbertson, Weddington, Porter Ridge, and Monroe square off against squads from outside the county.

Greg Andress, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Union Power Cooperative, had these thoughts on the organization’s continued support of the area’s youth and the community. “This showcase demonstrates Union Power’s continued commitment to our local schools. Union Power awards more than $35,000 each year to local students and teachers through Bright Ideas educational grants, college scholarships, and the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour.   Union Power is pleased to be a part of this and other events that benefit the students and teachers in our communities.”

The action begins on Friday, September 4th, as the Pinecrest Patriots bring an outstanding squad from Southern Pines, North Carolina to battle David Johnson’s high flying Cavaliers of Cuthbertson in a stand-alone 7:30 PM contest.

Saturday the 5th will feature a huge tripleheader as South Mecklenburg brings a rapidly improving squad to play Porter Ridge at noon. At 4 PM one of the best early season games in the state will take place as the powerful Weddington Warriors led by Head Coach Tim Carson will battle Head Coach Jason Estep’s three time defending NCISAA State Champion Knights of Charlotte Christian. The nightcap will begin at 8 PM as Gastonia’s Hunter Huss will be looking to steal a win as they tackle Head Coach Johnny Sowell’s Redhawks of Monroe High School.

Mark Stafford, a 151 Sports Marketing representative, had these comments on the state of this inaugural event. “I could not be more pleased to have both Union Power Cooperative and ESPN Radio 730 AM as major marketing partners. Union Power Cooperative is a respected community partner and plays such a huge role in the day–to-day lives of their 70,000 members. ESPN Radio 730 AM continues to be a huge supporter of our events and there is no other name in sports broadcasting we would rather be associated with. As for the games, buying a ten dollar ticket for all four games is a flat bargain for high school football fans. All four games should be very competitive contests but you must keep an eye on that Friday night game with Cuthbertson playing Pinecrest. Then to come back on Saturday afternoon and watch Weddington battling Charlotte Christian is another one you do not want to miss. 151 Sports Marketing looks forward to being there and putting on a great show for the players, coaches, and fans.”
