The Big 'uns: Keeping an eye on the men in the trenches

The skills guys always get the coverage in the media while the guys making the paths for them rarely get noticed....this season we are going to take a moment to recognize a few of the workhorses in the trenches each week in our weekly feature "the Big 'uns"

Gunnar Britton, OT, Conway Tigers - At 6-6, 275lbs, Britton turned our heads in the Spring of 2016 when he first attended the OL/DL camps of SCVarsity. The big man is a force for the Tigers and is committed to Western Kentucky. This week Britton will anchor the offensive line as they take on Georgetown.

Hank Manos, OL/C, Chapin Eagles - 6-4, 275lbs trenchman from Chapin has been a man among boys for his team. The standout wrestler dominates at his position and is committed to South Carolina. This week he will lead his Eagles offense against the River Bluff Gators.

Kamren McCray, OT, Berkeley Stags - 6-6 325, McCray is a monster dominaing all comers. He is the top OL in South Carolina in the 2019 Class and has picked up an offer from South Carolina. This week, the Stags face off with the D.W. Daniel Lions.

Josh Belk, DT, Lewisville Lions, - 6-4, 265...Belk is a monster in the trenches making life difficult for the ground game and a nightmare for quarterbacks who stand in the pocket too long. He had 78 tackles last season with 28 for loss and 7 sacks. This week against Andrew Jackson, he will show why the Clemson Tigers wanted him on their roster.

Zacch Pickens, DE, T.L. Hanna, 6-4, 240...just a junior, Pickens could be the top prospect in the 2019 class in South Carolina. He has multiple Division I offers from Power Five schools. this week, the big man will face off with the Gaffney Indians and could go up against one of the biggest tackles he'll see this year.

Coaches, if you have an offense or defensive lineman you'd like to see highlighted on Deep South Football, please email us information on your players. Alway, if possible, include their grade for that week as well as any stats for knockdowns, pancakes, etc... You can email me at
