Mason out at Albemarle

Albemarle High School will begin the process of searching for a new head football coach as newly hired principal Toby McLaurin has relieved head football coach Jim Mason and athletic director Jamie Kimrey of their duties.

Mason's dismissal continues the recent trend of one-year coaches at Albemarle and will lead to them having their sixth different head coach in six seasons.  Mason posted a 1-10 record in his only season leading the Bulldogs and has an overall record of 7-26 which includes two seasons at North Stanly.

This once proud program set the standard in 1A football for many seasons winning NCHSAA state championships in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2009, and 2010.
