Pitched a NO HITTER against 2A Topsail while walking just 2 in a 2-0 shutout to send the Bulldogs to 5-1. Coach said there were lots of scouts there to check out the senior who has already signed to play at ECU. Dixon the State 1A runner-ups last year should be strong again this season. Good Luck to em.

I doubt he ever makes it to ecu though. Kid is a big time player and will probably go very early in the draft.

In the following game he went 2-2 with a Homer. If not a pitcher why would the scouts be there on a day when he is Pitching ???? What position is he better at ????

scouts come when they can. if they come on days they are pitching, then they just get to see him pitch. have a VERY good source from ECU saying he will be a hitter in college IF he goes to ECU. Also have a VERY VERY good source that tells me when the draft comes around he willl be drafted as a position player.
he throws hard and has a great hammer but if you get a chance to have an athlete play everyday at another level, then the coaches will take full advantage of it. |

Rookie is clearly the class of the area. His fast ball is low 90's and dominates an area that is simply not "baseball strong". IMO, which means nothing...his fastball has little movement and will get crushed at the next level, whatever that is. Most impressive is his bat. He has the most fluid swing I have ever seen. Almost always hits the ball hard and can hit all pitches. Very impressive! Will represent the area well whatever he chooses.

I doubt ECU gets a chance to do anything with him, kid is the best there probably has ever been from this area in baseball.

best there has been from the area?????? i seriously doubt that! you have to take into consideration fonville from WO who played in the bigs. or anyone else on the WO team that won i believe 50+ straight ball games.
then you have the Southwest players from the early 90's when padgett coached. The Cabe brothers, Ramsey, the Barwicks, Then the late 90's with hewitt and Futrelle! he ranks in the top 10, but not the best there has been from the area |
