Default UNC football, when will the NCAA announce santions?

With national signing day tommorrow when will NCAA quit dragging their feet and let UNC know what their punishment is? Other schools that have done much worse have already received their punishment. That being said Larry Fedora has done a wonderful job recruiting through all this mess, UNC wasn't even in the top 50 until the last few weeks. What is everyones thoughts? And let's try and not make this a bash UNC thread. Stay on topic.

Frankly the NCAA has become a joke in most people eyes. Not only because of the over abundance of rules they have but their lack of consistency in enforcement and the length of each case. At this point who knows when they will announce anything or what it will be. Whether you hate or love UNC you have to admit that the length and time spent on the UNC case seems to not compare to any past case that typically have been handled in an expedited fashion.

I will say this though I will be surprised if they do anything in the next few weeks since I am sure they don't want to give any appearance to having waiting till right after signing day to release anything.

As for Fedora I will wait till after players actually are signed to hold judgement on anything. Not that I would be critical of him anyway but don't want to throw too many accolades his way before the players are signed officially tomorrow.

I cannot confirm this for sure but I believe the NCAA can hand down there punishment to a team without the team having to release it right away. IF im not mistaken, it's the teams responsibility or choice to announce the findings. Of course with technology these days, I'm sure whatever the decision is would leak out. It has taken a long time for this to be done with. But as was mentioned earlier, the NCAA is a complete joke and in my eyes is almost irrelavent. I have no idea what there punishment will be but after talking with a friend that lives out of state, he said no one really cares outside of the state of NC. I really don't see it affecting UNC much in the grand scheme of things. It could if they get bowl bans or something like that, but otherwise I don't think it will hurt them much. You will always have your diehard UNC fans just like diehard STATE fans that will go to wither school simply because of that. I say the findings and penalties will come out by late February. We shall see. GO PACK!!

Im not sure he has a man crush on me but he does have this strange idea that im a closet UNC fan. I guess even the people that know me best on this website can't convience him. Gdog, I wonder if he would change his mind if he knew just how much STATE stuff I have. Maybe I could take him to a STATE game since I have season tickets. Naw, he probably still wouldn't believe me. Oh well, I guess he needs something to keep his mind occupied. GO PACK!!

PS: Packman since your such a huge fan, join packpride and join me on the message boards. Yes, I pay $100 a year to be a member there because im a UNC fan.

UNC received a 1 year bowl ban, loses 15 schollys over 3 yearears and gets 3 years probation, bowl ban really suprised me but it is what it is.

Wow...it had taken so long....I forgot they were under investigation. 15 scholarships over 3 years.....that could be 5 per year, I guess they will base it on the talent of the particular class....the NCAA leveled a BOOM on my Heels.

It actually is broken down by the NCAA to five per year. They do get the option to move the start of that penalty to next year if needed based on the timing of the report.

Just finished reading/skimming the report from the NCAA. Very interesting reading on some parts. My complaint those is that it sounds as if they are punishing UNC for the fact that the tutor did not cooperate with the investigation at all. To me it is unfair to blame any instituation for someone not cooperating especially after the said individual is no longer associated with the school. This is the same with Blake and his lack of participation once the school fired him.

Simple put though the NCAA has spent two years on this and I think the punishment is fair just still don't get why it took them two years to get to this when other schools were resolved in a matter of weeks.

Exactly.....it seems the NCAA kinda stretched this investigation out for no apparent reason. Nevertheless, 5 schollys per year is bad, but not detrimental. Not sure on how good the Heels will be next season, but I hate that Boyd, Highsmith, and that entire class will not be able to participate in a bowl in their senior season.

I thought the bowl ban and not being able to play in ACC waschampionship game (not saying they were going to make it)was excessive. If this ever happens again the heels should just play the guys that are in trouble and lett the NCAA sort it out. To hell with cooperating.

Talked with gdog earlier today and we both agreed that the surprise to me was the bowl ban. I kinda expected the scholly limit vacating wins fine probation stuff. As a diehard STATE fan I would say the penalties were about right. When you factor in losing an entire coaching staff, having to continue to pay Butch, along with these penalities it seems about right to me.

Ok packman, do your thing and question my loyalty to my WOLFPACK!!

I wasn't overly surprised by the bowl ban but to make it five scholarships over three seemed harsh to me but it is what it is. I think in the long run UNC though will be better for this and the fact that it is finally over. Still wish someone would investigate why it took the NCAA two years to hand down this when it took less than a year for Ohio States.

Read where these seniors for non bowl eligible teams could transfer and not have sit out a year. Don't know what the Heels bring back but it's possible some could leave and play in a bowl game next year.

According to Linebacker Kevin Reddick, one of the top seniors they are all staying put which is good news.

I hope so.

No telling what some of these coaches will dangle in front of them or what kinds of promises will be made to win their affection. Show me the money usually works.

Finally over ??? Perhaps wishful thinking.
