If a team is attempting a FG and the defense gets through and blocks it, then runs into the kicker after the kick was blocked, is this still roughing the kicker??
I thought that once a kick has been blocked that the kicker can be blocked out of the way for someone to try an pick up the football and run with it. This happened about three or four years back when Albemarle blocked West Montgomerys FG att. in the West Regional Finals. |

No, there are no absolutes. The rules give the defense consideration but it does not make the kicker free game.
It's much like roughing the passer. If the contact is avoidable, then the defender must avoid hitting him or it's roughing. |
