Region One - Greenwood looks to have things well in hand. The battle for second place appears to be heading to a wild three weeks now. Laurens will face Easley and Wren in consecutive weeks and then Week Eleven has Easley and Wren. This wild Round Robin will determine how the #2 and #3 automatic bids are handed out.
Now, if you want to look at it BIG PICTURE, Laurens could shake the whole thing up, because in the next three weeks: Laurens @ Easley and then Laurens @ Wren and then Laurens will host Greenwood Now, I do not think it will happen, but Laurens could make things really messy by winning out.... Region Two - Byrnes didn't look good last night, Dorman and Boiling Springs looked good. Byrnes has Hillcrest next week, Dorman the week after and finishes with Boiling Springs. Dorman has J L Mann at home and then travels to Duncan. Boiling Springs has two weeks off (well as close as you could have, Riverside and Hillcrest) and then hosts Byrnes. What that means is that we have one more week of "wait till next week" and then we decide things in the final two weeks. Rebels and Bulldogs are in control... JUST WIN BABY! Should Dorman win next week at Nixon Field, then the Rebels beat Boiling Springs, we have a three way tie. Either way, expect a big crowd in Week Eleven at the Dawg Pound! Region Three - Lancaster for the first time in maybe forever has beaten Rock Hill and Northwestern in the same year! Some of you historians get on this and let us know the last time that happened. Many of us had already decided that Week Ten, Gaffney and Northwestern would determine the champ and runner up (some of us had already decided that this would be when Gaffney wrapped up the Region Championship as well as getting some payback for last year). But Lancaster didn't read the script.... Now, we could realistically have a three way tie for second place and we could actually have the Vikings falling all the way to fourth place really easily. Yes, Lancaster could still beat Gaffney and win the Region (And Bill Gates could adopt me, too) Region Four - Dutch Fork and the rest of the Region. I don't know, I thought Blythewood had stepped up and laid claim to the #2 spot... but as my wife often says, "There you go, thinking again!" Maybe Richland NE is now the favorite for the #2 slot... Maybe it's that team that couldn't score in the first few weeks of the season, Irmo! Maybe we could have Dutch Fork at 5-0 and then another three way tie for second? Well, Region Five... is over. North Augusta letting Lexington get that pass on the next to last play of the game decided this region's #1 and #2 spots... oh, wait, I forgot, they get 3 so I guess we do have to play it out. Right now, it has to be White Knoll as the front runner for that fina automatic bid. Region Six - OK, everyone that had West Florence leading the pack at this point, raise your hand!!! Yeah, that's what I thought... But realistically, they could win out and be the champs! They have already beaten Conway and they get South Florence at home... South Florence at Conway this Friday will just about eliminate the loser of the game. Two region losses and the hill gets awful steep. Right now, the West Florence team is looking good with the 2-0 record and the remaining tough game at home... Region Seven - GOOSE CREEK is the correct spelling for whomever is engraving the trophy! West Ashley versus Stratford for the #2 bid Friday night. I wish I could make this paragraph longer, but that says it all... Region Eight - If I asked who was the leader in Region VIII, folks outside of the Lowcountry would say...SUMMERVILLE. Actually, as of right now, it is Ashley Ridge. A win over Beaufort last night made them 2-0 and again, outside of the Lowcountry, what is their nickname? Ashley Ridge has Summerville Friday and then Ft Dorchester in Week Eleven... anyone buying Ashley Ridge as Region Champs? Most everyone thinks Summerville wins Friday and wraps up their Region Championship.... yeah, I'm not on the Ashley Ridge bandwagon just yet. Last edited by Rebel-Fan-74; 10-15-2011 at 09:34 AM. |
