Before the 1967 football season, Wadesboro High School and Anson County High School consolidated. The new high school was originally called "Bowman", and in 1984 the Bearcats became "Anson County". Bowman played its inaugural (and only) year in the Rocky River Conference.

I know one thing, the old Bowman High School on US 52 was one tough place to play if you were the visiting team!

I could be wrong, but i thought Anson won 11 or 12 games that year 1992. That was Ed Emory last year as Anson HC. And the program was put on probation the next year.

The 11th game was a "tie" in the playoffs. The team that had the most yardage was allowed to advance in the playoffs. So Bowman won 10 games, but the one "tie" was essentially a win, allowing Bowman to advance.

I forgot the year was 1992

The year I was referring to was in 1967, which was during Emory's first tenure with the program. Bowman was loaded that year.
