Default NC State@ UNC basketball thread!!

This thursday night the Wolfpack travel down the road to Chapel Hill to play the Tarheels. The heels are going for their 11th straight win over the pack. But this Pack team is much improved and better coached than recent wolfpack teams, should be an enertaining game. I my pick is the Heels at home by 10. What is everyones thoughts?

I think 10 is about right. Hope the Heels don't forget to guard Scott Wood like they forgot to cover Dulkyis for FSU. He can make you pay. Also, saw where Wood broke JJ Reddick consectutive FT record of 54 on Sunday. He is definitely a shooter.

I think this game comes down to one thing. FOULS. We (STATE) only play max 8 guys with the high post offense so if we can stay out of foul trouble it should be a close game. The Barnes-Wood scoring total will be important along with containing Henson which STATE has not been able to do in the past. I think Zo Brown will handle Marshall but Calvin Leslie will have to play big thursday night. I will put a score out there and HATE HATE HATE they i am saying this but 81-76 UNC. Think it will be a close game but UNC is playing at home. GO PACK!!

PS: Go ahead "packman" call me out for saying how i feel.

I to think the foul situation will be a big factor in this game. If the pack can stay outta foul trouble, they may have a chance on pullin out a upset. Pack's not a deep team at all, and foul trouble will end this 1 quick and nasty. On the other hand, this is a hungry Wolfpack team that wants to make a statement, and where else would be a better place to do so than Chapel Hill! Congrads to Scott Wood for breakn JJ Redick's record. Now sink bout 30 more in a row and break the NCAA record! Go Pack!

Heels by 10 is good....the question is, will the Heels be able to adjust their rotation with the loss of Strickland?? Who will pick up the slack.....who will pick up the minutes.....who's gonna defend NCSU's top guard?? Heels by 10 is good, but it may be closer.

Just another UNC-State game, Heels came out inspired and played really well. Bullock done a good job keeping Wood in check for the most part. He got most of his points in garbage time. Heels with their 11th straight win in the series.

NIT my ass! Pack played horrible tonite. Might as well not have showed up. Couldnt hit a shot but some bs banks off the glass, and i think they forgot wth defence is, i think the getting into foul trouble issue had somewhat to do with that. Leslie didnt step it up, and Wood played lazy, while no one setting him screens to free him up. Dont know what coaches game plan was tonite, but next time better bring more than that crap! Congrads to the Heels, playd a damn near perfect game!

Dawg I agree, Pack will make the dance this season. I do think it wasn't so much as Wood playing lazy as much as the defense Bullock played on him tonight. The Heels did a much better job of fighting through screens tonight. Wood can flat out shoot when he is open. CJ Leslie well he is what he is. He is inconsistant at best and is not a team player, you guys will be better off when he is gone. The Pack has a monster class coming in next year(#6 nationally) and the future is bright. Carolina was just on another level tonight.

State looked terrible tonite and I think UNC bigs had a lot to do with it. Zeller had a great game and Henson swatted numerous balls away. Bullock also kept Wood from getting any good looks for most of the game. As I said in another thread, the one guy UNC could lose and be replaced in starting line up was Dexter. UNC is now has another outside threat in the lineup that should help open up the paint a little more for Henson and Zeller to operate. Hopefully NCSU will bounce back and keep playing good ball and make the Dance. I think Leslie still looking out for himself and not much a team playa.

With the win over State, UNC has now won 11 straight in the series, which ties for the most wins in a row over State since the 1934-1938 seasons. Also, Roy Williams is now 17-1 over State, a .944 winning %, which is his best winning % against any ACC opponent, since he's been at UNC.

Great game by the Heels....the Pack will be much improved in the next one. Foul-trouble for thier big hurt them a bit, but they are a good team, they'll be in the dance.

I recant my own statement. Looks like today's choke @ Clemson kicked any chance of making the ncaa tourney! Only 1 other way, win the acc tourney. I dont see that happening. NIT here comes the Pack!

Yeah it looks to me that State has given up on the season, they have way to much talent to lose to Clemson.
