There will be no WEEKEND OF CHAMPIONS at Williams Brice next season.
AAAA Division I and Division II could be at one site AAA at another AA Division I and Division II at another A Division I and Division II at another There are good points and there are some not so good points. The good points don't seem to impress me as much as the not so good points make me say DO NOT DO THIS!!! I've been to Columbia to watch the AAAA Division II on Friday and AAAA Division I on Saturday and stuck around for the AA game. If they are at different sites on the same day... that means you can't see the other classifications. Now, if they were to do the AA and AAA one weekend and the AAAA the next... I might be for it. What do you folks think? |

I think it would be fine if they go back to the home teams site and swap it between upstate and lowstate each year. Do half in upstate and half in lowstate to give fans a close alternative for the casual fan. I too like the Weekend of Champions but no sense in making USC rich to pay to rent their facilities when nearly every school has there own. There were requirements to number of seats and different things that used to be in place to determine sites. My only DUH??? question is if every other classification is moving to two division champions why not 3A too? . |

I don't like the idea of a State Championship being played as a home game even if were at Byrnes.
I don't mind the idea of a neutral site for example: Byrnes -vs- Dorman at Furman Beaufort -vs- Goose Creek at The Citadel Clinton -vs- Berkeley at Spring Valley High Woodruff -vs- Dillon at Ridge View High Summerville -vs- Irmo at SC State I would even go for the semi-finals being played at neutral sites... Lower State Games at Citadel, Upper State at Furman. |

I always liked the WOC in Columbia. I know I won't be going to Clemson if Conway is not playing. Even if they save money playing in Clemson I think the lost ticket sales from the diehard high school football fans will offset most of the savings. Just think with 4A being an open bracket what if a lower state team had a couple of playoff games in the upstate and then had to turn around and go back to Clemson to play the title game. The SCHSL is going to cut their nose off despite their face.

Maybe they could have sites and host schools bid on hosting rights. Then the school would pay the SCHSL for the right to host the games.
Then the host schools would own the rights to the game, the ticket sales, the radio broadcast rights, television rights, DVD Sales and concessions. While I understand the "central location" theme, I would be willing to drive to Charleston this year and even Myrtle Beach next year and a trip to Furman the next. If they finished up on Thanksgiving weekend, they could have games on Friday and do it again on Saturday. |

Up into the 80's the home site was rotated between the upstate and low state and the home team didn't have any better advantage for that than they did for any other home game. Atmosphere was great back in the day because you knew it was going to be a packed house and you needed to arrive early. No place for the casual show up at gametime and get a good seat folks. Plenty of good venues at the high school level where high school football should be played. --- Of course if I were Byrnes with a long home win streak against mostly cream puffs I can understand not wanting to play the big games there. LOL . |

No way in hades it should be at a home.i have stood 8 to 10 deep for a championship game never again.people literally had to lift or bounce cars around so you could get out to leave. site the nearest college between the schools or bump the woc around the state each year.maybe have div 2 aaaa and div1 split and pair aa or aaa with one or the other and rotate them.

Not all may agree, but after watching all of the NC championship games at UNC for years, it has been a real disappointment for them to be held at different sites at the same time. It was a great weekend to go and see all of the best teams in the state play over a two day period. With sub-division of the playoffs it became impossible to have 8 games at one site in two days. Not nearly as much fun anymore in my opinion.
