Default Panthers

Heard today that the Panthers are leaning towards taking Andrew Luck for the #1 pick. Also that Jerry Richardson was looking to hire a NFL assistant coach to take over the head coaching job for the Panthers.
IMO, Andrew Luck maybe the right choice. But going after an assistant coach to replace Fox, is just a dumb & stupid thing to do. Just goes to show that Jerry don't want to spend the $$$ to hire a Quality coach. IMO, the idiot just needs to sell the team, since he falls asleep durring the games anyway!

What do you think about a package deal- Harbaugh and Luck? I heard several people talking the past 4-5 days about this possibly happening.

Here is the thing, folks. Most of us (at least, those I have talked to personally) want Andrew Luck, and as long as he comes out, that is who we will take. Now, Harbaugh would be a GREAT fit here in Carolina with his system. He loves TEs, and Rosario and Barnidge are both quality TEs. Not elite, but good. He loves a solid run game, and look what Carolina is KNOWN for...

In reality, Jerry wants to be the Pittsburgh Steelers organization. What have the Steelers done? Taken QBs in the draft, made them into WRs (Randle El AND Hines Ward), so the Panthers have (Armanti Edwards). Taken assistant coaches and coordinators and made them into head coaches (Mike Tomlin), so we want to as well (hell, we already did with Fox...). He doesn't think for himself. He follows other people's success and tries to duplicate it here. Sometimes, it just doesn't work like that. Harbaugh is the BEST WE CAN GET RIGHT NOW! It is sad we won't get him and his QB. Oh well, we'll just take his QB.

No way Harbaugh comes to the Panthers imo. If the 49ers get Harbaugh they will be pushing the Panthers hard in trade deals for the #1 pick imo.

I agree with Brevard....Panthers will not get Harbaugh....It does seem like they're modeling themselves after the Steelers, but I don't think thats their intentions...Edwards was a "feel-good" pick, IMO, pick that should have been made in the 6th or 7th round...bottom line....Panthers need a change....should draft Luck, move one of the RB, let Smith go, revamp the O-line.

No, they are. Richardson has said as much. He has said, numerous times in fact, that he admires the job they have done the past 20 years or so in personnel and in the draft. Thus, why he does EVERYTHING like the Steelers.

In other news, Luck is staying at Stanford per Ted Miller and ESPN.com

Here is the write-up:

Wow...if he is trying to model the Steelers...he's doing a poor job thus far...especially with personnel decisions. They need to get back to the days of a strong D-line (Kris Jenkins, Peppers, Buckner), solid LB's, decent DB's...just an overall solid defense...and go from there. Hopefully the coach they bring in will be defensive-minded.

I think they should trade the pick now. Maybe trade with the Patriots and get pick #17 I believe that would have been the Raiders pick and get one of their 2nd rounders.

Luck isn't going anywhere, for the Panthers or Stanford Cardinals. Andrew Luck isn't entering the draft and staying with the Cardinals next season!
Gonna cost this kid millions of dollars, but I can't blame him, I wouldnt wanna go to the Panthers either!

Maybe going outside the box is the way to go. One thing for damn sure, staying within the box did not work this season.

I saw on MSN... that the leading canidates for the coaching job are... Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera
************8226; 49ers defensive coordinator Greg Manusky
************8226; Giant's Def. coordinator Perry Fewell
************8226; Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan

i think carolina needs to pick a DE in the first round... and try to boast up in the later rounds.. and kept Classuen and Pike... dump Moore find a new vet. QB and part with some money to find decent Defense sub's and offense....

Why get a DE when Charles Johnson is tied for 3rd most in sacks by DE's? Why draft a DE when we have Everette Brown, Brayton, and Greg Hardy (all VERY talented) all in a rotation? Makes 0 sense. If we go DL, it needs to be DT, and it needs to be Nick Fairley. He is clearly the #1 DT in this draft. Guy is a monster.

Again, draft Newton if he comes out or regret not doing it.

I think Fewell is the front runner for the HC position...but Rivera would be a good choice as well...a defensive-minded coach...I think he could mold that young talent the Panthers have...either coach would be a good fit...both are defensive coaches.
