GAME DAY BABY. LET'S GET ER DONE.
Great article for both teams in the Asheboro courier tribune today. If your into stats you'll enjoy.

Should be a great ball game. ED is Number 1 in state deservedly so and loving the opportunity to go throw it all in an knock them off. Safe travels to and from to everyone. Last I heard there's 3 charter buses and the Randleman PD, world's most notorious police department is giving the boys an escort out of town to send them off today.

Tough loss for the Tigers and a long ride back to Randleman. Congratulations to E. Duplin on advancing to host North Davidson. Should be a great ballgame. And congrats to the Tigers for a great season. Nothing to hang their heads about.

Our guys played hard tonight. By far best team we played all year by a long ways.

However we shot ourselves in the foot big time and it will take some time to put this one behind us. In the second half our TE scored, hit pile on with the ball and ref spotted it at 1yd line, was clearly a TD all the way. Anyhow 1st and goal, we get sacked and 3 plays latter turn ball over inside 5 yd line. Then at the end of the game down 21 to 13 we drive the ball 1st and goal on the 8yd line and can't get it past the 2 yd line, Turn the ball back over to them with 2 seconds to go, end of game.
We scored 1st in the 2cnd qtr to get up 7 to 0. Then they convert a 4th down and tie us up with about 2 mins 40 before half. We 3 and out, don't chew any clock and give them ball at midfield and they make us pay by going up 14 to 7 at half. They score on 1st drive begining 3rd qtr. But from that point on we asserted our will on offense and clicked the rest of the night. We just ran out of time in my opinion.

HS football you got be able to run the ball and stop the run. We failed in those 2 areas tonight. They had one play they ran atleast 15 times and we never adjusted over , outnumbered us when pulling lineman. Other than that Defense held their own with the exception from middle 2cnd qtr though first 4 minutes of 3rd qtr.
Congrats ED, you earned the W and best of luck going forward. Nice firework show, green field but we needed more seating room. Randleman brung a BIG ,very loud crowd. ND will do the same. Not many concessions and no where for players to shower after game ND, so heads up.

I said whoever won tonight was gonna represent the east and win the state. Still stand by my statement. Was hoping the Tigers would get that 4th State Championship. Have to get back after it starting Monday Morning. Love our fans community, kids and coaches. Suns gonna rise in a couple hours and it will still be a great day to be a tiger. See you boys next year.

I too was at the game and would like to add a couple of things....

Outside of the Randleman QB, the running game was non-existent.  He carried 26 times for 70 yards factoring in the seven or eight sacks.  ED made Randleman one dimensional and actually played better pass defense than I have seen all year.  The 1000 yard back had 2 carries for 0 yards.  Also, the play you speak of with the TE and pylon, his left foot was out of bounds prior to the ball coming in contact with the pylon.  It was clearly visible from where I was standing.  Kudos to the ED defense for two goal line stands and only allowing the high powered Tiger offense 13 points.

ED as usual ran for 350 yards against nine, ten and eleven in the box.  That is just what they do.  It is not a big secret and its not like no one knows its not coming.  I think Randelman's defense gave them fits because they were so quick and tackled really well.  Looked to me they wanted to take away the fullback plays first which opened up some other things and ED took advantage of it.

Randleman was a very good football team and is up there with WRH and Jacksonville as far as how good they are.  Make no mistake, the QB was their main weapon and I think the pass rush ED was able to generate was probably as good as they have seen all year.  He took one shot and I still dont know how he only missed one play.  I think the speed of the ED defense was a little more than what they had seen this year and as a result the passing game was not as dynamic as it has been.

On another note, the Randleman bleachers were not even full.  Maybe 3/4 full but they were not full.  I am sure additional bleachers will be brought in next week if deemed necessary.  Yes, more concessions are needed and would be nice but Duplin County as a whole and ED in general is not swimming in revenue to be able to build such things.  The concessions and facilities at ED are on par with the other three high schools in Duplin County.  Also, I am very familiar with the locker rooms and showers that were provided for the visiting team.  Showers, (8 or 10) are in the visiting locker room and unless the water wasnt working, were available.  Again, probably not the type of facilities of Randolph County or surrounding counties up that way but they were available.  I guess things like that make just show how important the regular season is.  Always better to play at home where you have such luxuries I suppose.

Congrats to Randleman on a terrific season.  They had an oustanding football team and great fan support.

As for ED, another huge challenge next week.  Second straight Eastern Championship appearance coming up so I dont think they will be in awe of the situation.  They have passed each test this year, played a great schedule, won three or four close games against great teams and have been on a mission all season.  Cant wait for Friday.
