Should be a good game. Spread vs flexbone. Hibriten better bring there A game, at times they look like there going through the motions against weaker teams.
I'm glad they found their grove since it went dead in December on that cold night!... H 35 NC 14

I am going to say that newton hangs around for two quarters before getting beat by two scores. Think Hibriten will be physically imposing running the football and will wear down the defense. Things will change though if Newton gets up two scores early which would make Hibriten force their hand. I look for it to be about 22- 35 Hibriten. Newton has not had to play a game yet where the other team thrives on 8-12 play drives getting four yards a carry. It took Newton a couple series to figure out Easts Triple, just wait till you see hope fast Hibriten runs it. I hope to see this go down to the wire. I think a competitive game for four quarters and a loss would fuel Newton farther than if Hibriten Steam Rolls. Play competitive, hold Hibriten close, and hope Newton has the ball with two minutes left and a chance to score to win. Being competitive early in the season will help Newton be more competitive in close game sin the Playoffs. Also Remember that Newton has only beat one team that is 500 or better in the Beam Era. This will be the first major test that Beam has had at Newton where both teams are contenders. I look for Newton to win out after Friday night. No teams look anywhere close to competitive at this point in the year.

DCMN tick tock
Rain baby, rain. I'd like to see two more days of drizzle before Friday. Hope Hibriten's field holds a lot of water. Wish someone would come over and fill the cannon with cement also. I don't want to hear that thing all night.
My guess is N-C would have to hold the Panthers to less than 28 points to win. For certain the Red Devils will spread the defense out far as possible. On the other side we should see N-C corners isolated on receivers with the safety creeping down for the Panther ground attack.

Yeah it's pretty sad how far the former SD7 has fallen. N-C gets a bit better and all of a sudden look like world beaters. Maiden is playing some good team ball but nothing I have seen says they are a third round team but given the soft schedule and weak conference, they will draw weak 1st and 2nd round opponents. I think the only team that can get a win over Maiden is Newton (and that's not a prediction).
It should be a good game and both teams need a close game because both conferences are pretty weak.
A win Friday pretty much guarantees Hibriten goes 11-0 and a top seed in the west. A Newton loss could be dropped for seeding purposes, so a Maiden win would improve Newton' chances to win a playoff game. Lots of disappointing years lately with only early wins over a bunch of subpar teams. I'm not ruling out Lincolnton quite yet until they show an unwillingness to change the offense and pretty much have most kids go both ways. They have to go back to the wing to be more competitive.
