Catholic for certain will be small. Crest probably as well but they'll be on border.

Catholic would've been 3A last year. Crest I think will be on the line like Chris said. Gonna be an interesting 3A battle with all those teams up in 3AA.

I would imagine AL Brown will be glad Catholic will be 3A in the playoffs.

no way with what each team has this year AL brown would beat Catholic.. Just a few students in number causing brown to go 3aa will save them another beat down.

To be fair for AL Brown. They have a great coach and it would not surprise me that they could sneak a State Championship game in the next four years. But this year which I could be wrong. 3 rds maybe at best. JMO

Forgot about Watauga moving down. Alexander Central could be a sleeper I think they return alot from last year.

Yes it will. They need to be thanking their lucky stars.

I dont know about that. 3AA is as tough as it gets. I dont see where they'd get the talent to make a run like that vs Weddington, Dudley, Reynolds etc. Sorry I just do not see it.

From a pure number of teams I think this is by far the toughest road to a championship of all eight classifications. Most of the 3AA top 15 would handle the top teams in single 4A.

I definitely agree that 3AA will be real tough for to win out. A lot of good teams. But should be some dandy games to watch.

I think it will be a much more competitive playoff year because of the restructuring. Looking back at the last few years, in some classifications, there was dominance by teams with higher admin #'s. Conversely, there were teams with smaller admin #'s that were 'overachieving', like the comment above saying that 3AA teams could beat 4A teams. With school's of like size competing against each other the Jimmy's and Joe's should be athletically consistent. I say should, because now is where you see a program begin to excel. They weight room ethic of the players, game planning, drills, technique, and the discipline the coaches instill in the team will shine. Fan bases should beware that their powerhouse of the last few years may experience some difficulty in the new conferences and playoffs.
