I can't believe nobody has mentioned Page v Grimsley or if the did sorry I didn't see it.  That is the biggest rivalry in the Greensboro /Triad area.  Everyone knows that Grimsley has been down the last few years but every year there is 8K-10k fans at this game.  I think this game started in 1958 the all time attendance record was set back in 1997 when 13,452 fans showed up to watch this game.  A lot of people say Page Dudley and that is a good game but as far as rivalries its Page Grimsley in Greensboro.

Kannapolis/Concord is the states longest running rivalry,,,

Incorrect.  Shelby vs Kings Mountain is the states longest "running" rivalry.  They have played every year since 1926 (the first meeting being in 1923) with the exception of 1943.  The reason they didn't play that year was because Kings Mountain could not field a football team due to all the young men electing to fight in WW II.  We feel that deserves a pass.

Shelby vs Crest = Me vs my wife.  It gets very personal for a whole lot of people.  The schools are only 4 miles apart.  Usually over 10,000 in attendance some years closer to 15,000.

Shelby has played Gaffney 16 times since 1921.  The series record is 5-9-2.  We had a 4 game stretch from 1993-1996 and Gaffney had our number every time but the games were very competitive with two being 27-24 and 20-13.

Then why come the internet says Concord/Kannopolis been playing "every" year since 1924?

Longest running means it ain't ever stopped right?

Don't care either way just wanted some clarification on what longest running means.

Both rivalries been around forever.

Curious to the consecutive times Maiden vs Newton-Conover. Getting close to 100 games counting playoffs.

It was mentioned previously but this game really wouldn't qualify as a rivalry ala Richmond/Scotland or Crest/Shelby. Maybe if Grimsley could field a competitive team on a consistent basis like Page has managed to do since the 80s it would be more of a rivalry.

I agree Prince, I know Page is way ahead in wins.  I think the Smith/Dudley games have been good in the past but Dudley is way ahead in this match up as well.

Agreed.

Smoky-Franklin is a rivalry, and I would love for it to be a real big one, but neither school has been competitive at the same time for a long time (going back to Smoky being Sylva-Webster).  I want to hate the Mustangs, but they have to get good again first.

with the change in the schedule to the last game of the season it may help.

Don't throw out maiden vs bamdys. In the 70s they use to send caskets to each other. During the 2000s maiden drew a vulgure pic on the trojan head at butler stadium.

Bandy has fallen on some tough times they had few down years in past few seasons but If they get back to the glory days then They could make it a Competitive match up
