May be an old timer but leaving out the State Runner Up and your past comments was a jab at West Montgomery. Or just further proof that you know little to nothing about 1A football in NC. Either way you got shot down pretty good and exposed for the cry baby you are. I'll put together a poll soon. I'm waiting on a few chips to fall before I do. With the firing of the coach and AD at Albemarle it could get interesting at North and at West Montgomery.

I'd say Mitchell will be 1aa again before Murphy. The Mountaineers only went 1a last year due to an unexpected Starmount win. Either 1aa or 1a, I think Murphy will be the favorite for the western champion. West Montgomery's new coach has a good record, so maybe their won't be much of a falloff. Gah, is it August yet?

New coach. Same PROGRAM. The kids met with the new HC and absolutely fell in line 100%. No sour grapes but the banter around town is that the new coach didn't gel with the players in the initial meet and greet. Not sure the details but I am positive West Montgomery is a hell of a lot better off with Akins than someone who didn't want to be there.

If the new blood on the o-line gels this could be the best Murphy team in a really long time, the skill positions and defense are loaded with talent. And that's not including the possibility of the best athlete in the school (rising sophomore stud Justice Dorsey) coming back out for football.

Very well could be. I expect them to be a major player before it is all said and done.

This is nothing more than a wild guess. I think the top 4 or so are he xclass of the field then throw them in a bag, shake it up and see how they fall out.

In the end it will come down to injuries and matchups.

I am in agreement with Observer. I underestimated the bulldogs last year, but after seeing them and seeing who they return, this years Murphy team can and will be something special. I don't want to jynx them, but undefeated is not out of the conversation.

Don't know much except we will have more seniors than we have in many years.

Dorsey participating in spring practice, if he's still around come August look out.

What position? Not that you all need much help anywhere.

He's been getting reps at literally all the skill positions on offense, best way to describe it would be jack of all trades. Dorsey is already Murphy's best basketball player and track athlete as a freshman, he's just a big time all around athlete. The plan as I see it is to move him around to get the ball in his hands as much as they can and to exploit any defensive mismatches.

Dorsey has great bloodlines, his dad and uncle both signed with UGA out of high school. His dad Melvin Dorsey later transferred to Western Carolina and was a multi year starting RB for them, including their 1983 team that played in the 1-AA national title game. His uncle Jesse Dorsey was a multi year starting RB for Tennessee Tech.

That would be a huge pickup for sure. West has a hell of a RB coming back as a Jr. And two in the wings waiting for their chance. All three are different style runners. No Jo Leake speed but bigger. Player to watch will be at the QB position. If it falls into place this kid will turn some heads. And I'm not just talking high school heads.

There appears to be more to that than meets the eye. I've heard rumors from people for years now about a "thing" going on, which I just kind of dismissed as sour grapes. But then I have multiple respected coaches over the last year or two mention this same "thing" to me unsolicited, that starts to make one think it's more than just a rumor.

Let's just say that if these two teams played towards the end of the season instead of the beginning, I'd be willing to bet the series wouldn't be as lopsided as it's been the last decade plus. I'm not saying Franklin wouldn't still have the series lead during that time, but it wouldn't be as lopsided as it is.
