This has got to be the longest off seasons in recent memory.  Heading into the 2017, I was just wondering who some of you felt is the most over looked talented players for this season.  Not talking about the kids that get all the press, but the ones you don't hear much about that will be impact players this fall?

Freshwater and Walker from Northeastern, both rising juniors and great players on both sides of the ball.

Bailey from Edenton, led the state in rushing yards in 2016, but not known by most fans.

Jake Christman at Western Alamance high school.  Kid can do it all and this year will get out of the shadow of Darius Pinnix.  Only thing that can stop him is his coaches!

Storm Monroe at Mooresville won't be overlooked for too long if he stays healthy. Through 4 games last year as a freshman, led the state in tackles (as a LB). Has a reall sense for finding the ball.

Two names of through out there would be Matthew Martinez (Safety) and Jaleel Johnson (Corner). Both over 6 feet tall. Both just picked up offers from UNCC. I really feel Martinez could be a top 10-15 Safety in North Carolina.

Just watch these highlights of Jake Christman and explain to me how he is not burning up the recruiting boards.  Think the answer is obvious to this question.  www.hudle.com/athlete/4251668/jake-christman

Good hands, good run after catch, really didn't see him have to get open or run any real routes, quick pass to a wide open flat.

I don't think I can answer the original question.  Lot of talented players in our state.  However, there are a few guys that come to mind locally.....

Jaron Rainey, QB at SW Guilford.  He's got good size, got a good set of wheels, and is a pretty good playmaker.  Overlooked because 1) he plays for SW Guilford, 2) played in a conference which featured Madison Cone, Christian Beal, Thomas Hennigan, Tre Turner, and Stephen Brown.  He'll be a senior this year.  He's got an offer from ECU.

Trey Love, DE at SE Guilford.  Big, strong, athletic hybrid DE.  Has had interest from Clemson, Florida State, and North Carolina.  Gave a verbal commitment to ECU a couple of weeks ago.  In the same boat as Rainey for the fact that he played in a conference which boasted guys like Hendon Hooker, Will Jones, DJ Crossen, Javon Leake, Brelin Faison-Walden, etc.

Brevin Allen, DE at NE Guilford.  Another big, strong, athletic DE.  Also has an offer from ECU.  More than likely overlooked for the fact that NE Guilford has really struggled recently.  I can't wait to see what Mr. Bates can do with Allen (and Gerald Simpson, for that matter).

Hayden Mann, QB at E Alamance.  Mann's been on the radar as a basketball recruit for quite some time.  He took over for John Lamot at QB last year and burst upon the scene (IMO).  He's a big, strong, lefty with good feet that can make plays on the run.  I imagine after last year that his football recruitment really picked up.  It'll be interesting to see which sport he chooses at the next level.

I'll also give a list of a few guys that are not so much overlooked as the fact that I just don't think they've broken out yet......I fully expect these guys to break out in the near future...

Nic Cheely, wR, Eastern Guilford

Adam Aikens, Eastern Guilford

Jsi Hatfield, QB/ATH, Southern Alamance

Born Lesane, RB, Grimsley

Devan Boykin, RB/DB, Ragsdale

Chad Stephens, RB, SE Guilford

Hakeem Knight, RB, Southern Guilford

Christman is a tough, fast little buggar.  His 80 yard run against EG last year was one of the most awesome efforts I've ever seen on a football field.  It's going to be fun to see how he's utilized in WA's offense this year.

I agree with you Chute as I usually do. If Christman is used right in that WA offense he could have a special season. The dude can run it, catch it, and even throw it. And most importantly has a non stop motor and not scared of nothing.

Where I do disagree with you is on Mann at Eastern Alamance. I personally am not impressed. Plays well against inferior competition but just not physical enough for me . Doesn't play well when it gets physical. A little timid when it comes to contact

Chute,
I have been told that Simpson won't be at NEG next year. The word I got was Dudley. We'll see come fall.

I like Rainey & Love a lot. I also like Cheely.

I think Mann is hoops all the way.

As far as Christman goes.... one of my favorite players & very overlooked. He makes electric plays if he gets the touches. I had a P5 asst tell me last year on the sideline that "he's the best player on the field." If a P5 doesn't come calling, the Ivy's or a service Academy will gobble him up.

AThe triad is a hot bed for athlete. We have a lot of teams played for state championships this school year. We have a lot of kids which are not getting there just do credit, in other words politics. I just want to comment on couple of things I seen up here.

Just watch these highlights of Jake Christman and explain to me how he is not burning up the recruiting boards.  Think the answer is obvious to this question.  www.hudle.com/athlete/4251668/jake-christman

I have seen Jake Christman play, I think he's a good player. He was over shadow by Darrius Pinnix, who was player of the year in the conference. Which was one of the strongest 3A conferences in the state before they broke it up this coming year. In my opinion  the most under rated player in the conference was Gerald Simpson. From what I here Simpson came in third for player of the year in the conference behind two seniors. He's probably the most under rated player in the state. Simpson been starting varsity since he was a freshman.  He plays both side of the ball, quarterback and strong safety. He is getting recruit on the defensive side of the ball.  To me I was impress with in him playing both side of the ball.  From what I'm hearing he transfer to Dudley High School, to me that put them as a favorite to win the state championship again with them dropping down to 3A. I went to his twitter page check out his hudl highlights. https://t.co/qHa9M69ruB

I think in the next couple of years there going to be a lot kids leaving the triad on scholarship. Over all I just proud all the kids from North Carolina for just representing nationally. Lots of colleges are coming here picking our talent right away from our may college programs.
