Mt. Airy wins 1A girls and SW Guilford takes 4A boys.

When was the last time an eastern team won the 1A girls title? Chatham Central?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Chatham was a western rep beating Red Springs and Roanoke. Think that is correct? Union in 1998 over Cherokee.

Hickory Ridge is up on N. Guilford at the half and that much is not particularly surprising, but that fact that they are outrebounding them is surprising.

Elissa Cunane fouls out, but N. Guilford leads by eight with 1;31 to play-will if be enough?

N. Guilford hangs on to win 66-64.  That makes it 3-0 for Guilford county-with Clinton winning it is now 4-2 in favor of the west.

FHS you did a great job talking about Elissa Cunane of Northern Guilford she was great. Hickory Ridge last night miss shots that throughout the season they would normally go in. Had Elissa Cunane foul out a minute earlier Hickory Ridge might have won the game. Both teams played really well so Congrats to Northern Guilford for winning the state title. In the boys game Cox Mill won 70-64 over Eastern Guilford. The story in that game was free throws and more free throws and Wendell Moore Jr. Both teams combined shot 68 free throws. Alston #4 Eastern Guilford he by himself went to the free throw line 21 times. Eastern Guilford missed 17 free throws Cox Mill 12. Wendell Moore Jr finished the game with 29 points and 8 shot blocks. Roy Williams did watch the entire game along with his wife and UNC Greensboro head coach Wes Miller. As far attendance we had around 12K in total. As far compering the Dean Dome to Carmichael. I actually now like Carmichael more then the Dean Dome. The Dean Dome media room was big but food wise we had much better food at Carmichael. Also at Carmichael we had a bit more space for our legs compared to the Dean Dome. Finally last year at Carmichael were asked to vote for the game MVP. Last night because we were sitting in the radio row area we were not asked to vote for the MVP. I am very happy that I was able to take great pictures while inside the Dome. Congratulations ones again to all the teams who made the playoff.

The food and the MVP vote have nothing to do with the arena. That is the admin of the game.

The lower bowl in the Dean Dome holds less than 14,500. The facility has a capacity of 21,750 for basketball. 80% of the seats would need to be filled in the lower bowl to hit 12,000 attendance. There were a lot of empty seats and sections with few people in them.

UNCG held 2,350. There were seats available during the games as people did not bunch up.

Carmichael holds 6,800. (My understanding that does not include the rollout bleachers on the team bench side raises the capacity to 8,000.).
Reynolds 5,500 but not sure that includes the roll out bleachers on the lobby end zone.).

Do not know of a title game ever being completely full with every seat taken. I had this conversation with Que Tucker Saturday. The only issue at UNCG was the games going back to back with little time in between and not having the entry ticketing area manned and setup more sufficiently. We spoke about the Dean Dome really being too large in just the lower bowl.

I got a text from Saturday with a picture and there is no way they had 12,000. Not sure if they had 6000. Sportscaster I think you might need to see an eye doctor. You might be cross eyed friend.

Glad you got to see Ole Roy. Hell he didn't have anything else to do after getting out coached again by the greatest coach in the history of college basketball. Dean Smith got a building named after him. Roy should get a restroom named after him with all the talent and history he has been around and not done more.

I see. One thing that surprise the seats in the arena are not bright blue as they appear on television.

12k  Nowhere near it.

I was there. As great as winning it was, I couldn't help but be turned off by the fact that the place was so empty.

Carmichael is the way to go. Smaller the better; create an atmosphere.

I am hearing 4,000 in the stands for the last game is probably a bit high estimate.

Good analogy I was told, if there were 12k there AL Brown and Concord football game needs to be moved to BofA Stadium.

Negative Tango. LOL. As great as Wooden was he coached in an era of 24 qualifiers for the post season. I was always a Dean Smith fan and he is my all time favorite. Roy takes his time outs home with him.

As for the attendance I think Sportsbroadcaster better not play the lottery because arithmetic and guessing is not his best quality. Not sure what the North Carolina Central gym holds but it looks to be about the right size for a championship game and two back to back. Looks like maybe 2500 to 3000.
