Halftime: Pats lead 40-35. Good one so far.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Wow-thought that one would be close.

Pats hang on to beat South Point 82-75. All the credit in the world to the Red Raiders who fought hard all the way through.

Freedom gets another doubleheader Tuesday as the boys host J. M. Robinson after the girls take on Central Cabarrus. We will need a great effort from both the Pats and Lady Pats to get over those hurdles..

Speed difference finally caught up with north Iredell lady Raiders. We played hard but central cabarrus had all the right answers. Third round two years in a row. Not sure we can make it that far next year. Good luck to everyone left dancing.

Speed difference didn't catch up with North Iredell. 9 for 23 from free throw line and the worst shooting night NI had all year. Actually thought Hickory was a better team. Felt like if NI had a normal shooting night they would have won.

North took Lincolnton to the woodshed.

I wonder if Surratt would have played on better teams (FB and BB) if he would have stayed at East Lincoln?

Saw two at Orange last night.....

Rockingham County jumped out to a big lead and hung on without too much trouble,  56-39.  Orange did cut it to six midway through the third but couldn't get any closer. Madeline Hardy had a real good game for Rock.

The Orange boys jumped out to a 28-3 lead and cruised over Triton.  In the process, however, they were dealt a huge blow.  Towards the end of the first quarter, Connor Crabtree came down on someone's foot while going for a rebound.  Looks like he's going to be out for the rest of the way.

Me too. East Lincoln had very good teams in both. Don't forget the other two seniors who transferred in from Cherryville and North Lincoln. All for little. Some call it karma.

Hi guys I have a two part questions how good are the Freedom girls and boys? I know that both the boys and girls have A very good record, matchup wise in the upcoming girls game matchup Wise is Freedom the much better team? And in the boys game again taking away the team record is Freedom a much better team then Robinson? What is Freedom girls and boys straight and weakness? Now does also anyone know how good Hickory is team? I know that they have a very good record but I am trying to figure what are they good at? Thanks in advance

I think both our boys and girls teams are very good, but I think "much better team" is an overstatement.  Right now both teams have some common opponents; the Lady Patriots played Cox Mill in the first round of the playoffs and the Patriots played Concord in the same round.  Both won by bigger margins against those teams than either C. Cabarrus or J.M. Robinson did through the season, though those teams were both 3-0 against those common opponents.  I talked about the strengths and weaknesses of the Patriots and Lady Patriots in the "playoff team analysis" thread and I think what I said there still stands.

As for Hickory, they are deep, fast and shoot the three ball well.  They are well-coached and Coach Poplin knows how to game plan for an opponent's strengths and weaknesses.  I am very curious to see how they do against an obviously excellent Cox Mill  team.
