Nick Eddins has informed his players that he's stepping down as head football coach at West Montgomery and will be approved as the head coach at Crest at tonight's board meeting.

Eddins compiled a 71-15 record in six seasons as the head coach for West and led the Warriors to the 1AA state finals twice.

Prior to that he spent 10 seasons as an assistant at Richmond County under Paul Hoggard and Ed Emory.

Eddins is an Anson County native and played for East Carolina.

They will like this hire.  Wow.  I always thought he would take Richmond to the state title game one day.  He will be a state contender at Crest, no doubt.  Great guy...great coach.

The guy can coach, period. Congrats to him and his family and to Crest. Best of luck to WM hiring a replacement. Should not be hard to find a quality replacement considering what a great all around program is in place at West.

No doubt his team was ready that night.  Credit to East for making the playoff game a strong contest.

Great hire for Crest.

Their feud with Shelby's going to get very intresting again and nuclear. Expect some good games between them the next few years..

Excited to see what he brings. New conference should be a step up and Shelby will always present a tough challenge.

Good stuff Chris. Looking forward to seeing Coach Eddins at work. Also excited as part of the media that covers Crest to work with Coach. Nice to have a Coach that has that good media sense. Seems like you can just hold the mic and he can go. Great time to be a Charger.

Awesome job Chris. Very excited for Crest football to get started in 2017. Coach Eddins will love Crest, great support for the football program. Good luck coach and congratulations on your new job. Not much better than Cleveland County football.

It is a sad, sad day here, but you guys at Crest are getting a great one. I've seen some scuttle here and there about hiring a 1A coach. You've hired more than a "1A coach." You've hired an outstanding family man first and foremost, that loves working with kids, works tirelessly, is always prepared, and is a great coach. Take it from fans that know, you got a gem and time will prove that. That is the unfortunate part of 1A football. We can't compete when a job like Crest comes calling. Enjoy your time with Coach Eddins. He will have you back at the top very soon.

Eddins is a good choice. He's a winner and a motivator. I don't think the expectations will be a problem for him. The talent is always there. Sid Bryson Stadium is a tough place to get a win as an opponent. Those Stewart and Kirby years have brought expectations that other schools don't have every year. And when you win they seem to come to you from other places.

Success is measured different ways by different schools. Not Crest. Make the final game of the season and beat the Shelby Golden Lions. I may have the order of priority backwards.

Coach Eddins cut his teeth coaching at Richmond. Crest is a perfect fit for him. He understands the level of expectation.

It's one thing to see Eddins in action, it's a totally different and unique experience to see this man in front of you as your coach for three years, and I had the privilege of this being the case at Richmond Senior from 2005-2007. Work in Charlotte and live in Dallas, so I'll definitely be going to see Coach and Crest at least once this season.
