Ok. Last post deserved to be deleted.

Very bitter over the hiring process that has taken place. Not the new coach's fault.

Yeah ... you have so much to be bitter about.

Southern Lee has named Ken Neal as its new football head coach.   Neal was assistant head coach/defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach at West Montgomery.   Also, he was head coach at Union Pines from 2003-04, was also an assistant at Richmond Senior from 2005-06, and head football coach at East Montgomery in 2007.

Sounds like a good hire to me. Good luck to him at SLHS!

7-27 as a head coach, bringing an assistant who was 5-17 as a head coach. Powerhouse stats.

Act I is complete. On to Act II the transfers.  Lee County celebrates.

Records can be deceiving. Ken Neal is a very solid coach. He will definitely have more talent to work with than he had at the time of his previous stops. Give the guy a chance

A head coaching record is not always indicative of the job a coach does. You never know the circumstances of his previous jobs. He may not have had any assistants or very few with experience. You can't do it alone. He may not have had many athletes to work with, what was the record of the schools he took over before he got there? At SLHS he will have athletes and a student population interested in football. And he has some good assistants on staff. The administration wants to be good so they will probably give him some of the tools needed. Such as kids in school weight training. Hiring some help, visiting feeder schools, etc. Give some support and see what happens. Maybe get a crew together to line the field like they did in the past. That takes some headache off his plate.

Not very familiar with our program. Boosters have painted & maintained the field for years until recently.

Someone from admin needs to explain why the athletes, students, parents & boosters need to sit around hoping that a coach can out perform his past record.  After past coaching changes and their associated records, we might have had to take a chance. Not this go around. The opportunity to hire a proven winning coach was available. Yet here we are hoping & praying the new coach might succeed.

No but we are talking about coaching records and if we look at his record at SWR many would consider him to be a bad coach that is all

Danny won a State Championship as HC. He also was at a SWR with no talent. Look for him to go to WM as DC. Crossing my fingers anyways. Where there is talent.

Ahh, got ya.  I agree with that and agree that coaches with less than stellar records can still be good coaches.  I'm sure most would agree that the true definition of a coach isn't in wins and losses, but includes their relationships with their athletes.

Warrior, that would be a great get for West! His name seems to be popping up a lot with the East Davidson job though. We'll see
