After four seasons coaching the Cavaliers, Don Simon resigned as Southern Lee’s head football coach and athletic director Thursday, accepting the head coaching job at Harmony High School in central Florida.

Southern Lee will be returning a field goal kicker next season and he'll likely be playing on Saturdays somewhere down the road.

Southern Lee also will be returning a DB that holds 6 D1 offers and counting & a rising junior RB/LB that will play on Saturdays along with other talented players.  Plenty of talent in the school to continue playing winning football.  Just ask Lee County, they have successfully recruiting their best two running backs out of Southern.

I still remember that field goal kicker from last season.  He kicked 3 FGs versus Union Pines and kicked the game winner versus Lee County.

Sources have told me that a coach has been offered and accepted the position, we should hear something official real soon.  By the looks of things, it will be a coach that has head coaching experience with a certain familiarity to the program.

Hearing the possible head coach has a certain familiarity to the region, bringing a coach with a certain familiarity to the program.  If so, another step forward.

Well now, interesting post. According to your historically noted ways of thinking, would this hire not really be a step backwards?

If it's who I'm led to believe, the no.

I don't mean backwards in the sense of setting the program back. The implication is backwards in time.

I hope that the Sanford Herald will be on top of this ...

Absolutely they will. Two weeks after the new hire is announced,  they will put out a two sentence statement.

IS it a current HC?

He is not. There's a surprising new development now too - where he currently hangs his whistle.

Conflicting information today. We either move forward or shut the program down and send everyone across town.

I would say it starts with a N and ends with an L. Just my 2 cents

Ok. Last post deserved to be deleted.

Very bitter over the hiring process that has taken place.  Not the new coach's fault.
