My question is for those that were at the state title game...what did you think of our crowd? Were we loud at all? Pretty average? Reason I ask it seems as though our folllowing has become a little less and fans have become spoiled some,IMO. Just curious to get another fans point of view.

I went into the press box for a bit. In the second quarter I spoke with a few people and the consensus was that 1,000 or less fans were on the West side. I thought about 800. I think being a week later and the bitter cold both hurt some.

I'm a Warrior and I was at the game. I felt as though we had a much larger crowd IMO. I felt like most of the West side of the county was there. Our fans have always supported the Warriors no matter what.

As a 1-A football fan, my question to both Wallace and West fans:

Does the huge college stadium help or hurt the atmosphere?  Would playing at a smaller college stadium not make it more like our Friday night experience?  Both the Bulldogs and the Warriors could have had 5,000 fans each and the place looks empty.

Would it make more sense to play at NC A&T in Greensboro?  Great facility and better location for 1-A?!

Warriorlife....not trying to argue which crowd was bigger because with the big stadium it's hard to justify how many were actually there. Our side looking over to West's side, it looked as though y'all had maybe 300-500 fans. To me it wasn't even close as to what Mitchell had last year. Being their 1st appearance was a definite factor in how many fans they brought of course. I like you felt our side had more fans but I know we didn't have as many as say 04 and 05 because I feel like our fan base has become somewhat spoiled with all the success.

That huge venue definitely impacts the atmosphere negatively in my opinion. We were definitely louder. We were "cussing" that Wallace defense for not letting us score!

IMO if you're not going to play at a huge college stadium you might as well go back to playing at the home teams high school. No player playing in the state title game wants to look back and say we played at Greensboro.

I agree I think the games should be played at the higher seeds home stadium. I understand travel plays a factor but it would make things so much better IMO. I don't like the big stadium atmosphere for high school football. Wish they would go back like it was in the old days.

Fanatic....very funny! I just don't see how y'all can say that West fans were louder, I remember hearing y'all cheer loud twice to be honest. Once on a pass play and once when y'all scored. Other than that it was dead silent and wasn't even that loud when y'all did cheer from our perspective. Of course from our side we were a lot louder so it's all about where someone was located in the stadium. I know the cold weather had a lot to do with it as well.

Thanks for your thoughts on the venue!

Heck we have not been there yet!  You guys have had multiple opportunities.  Hey we would play the game

in your backyard just to play in a championship game!

Have a Merry Christmas!!!!

I think the kids like to play at the big stadiums. Playing on a big time college football field is most kids dream and not to many of them get that chance. It seemed to me that the crowds were pretty loud. Plymouth band was blowing us away during our game and I would say there were about the same amount of fans at our game. I thought it was a good atmosphere because you get the fans that are really into it. Drive 350 or 400 miles to watch. I know there are some dedicated fans who couldn't make the trip as well and listened on radio as well. I think the kids love it.

Venue is too large. A&T is too large for the 1A games. Players seem to like it but I think they would like an Elon if they played there also.

I do not support returning to the schools. I do not think Plymouth would want to play at Murphy. That is an eight hour drive instead of 2.5 hours. There were a few hundred fans from both teams at the game.

Cape Fear had a huge crowd at the 4A game. Very impressive.

If only Mr. Richardson would let the championship games take place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.  Not likely.

Smaller stadium would be much better for the 1A/1AA Championship games. Like a Greensboro College, Elon, Guilford College etc. I get the kids may like it but it takes the high school effect out of it. Definitely fan of smaller stadium either way

Are the 1-A schools more likely to be placed in the Friday night spot and/or the Saturday morning spot than are the larger schools?

The weather was a factor.  But you can go online a stream the game without battling the elements and that takes away from the number of fans that would show.  A&T would not be a bad place though.  It host some of the major track meets.  It host some National events and all the State Championships in track.  Greensbore is as large or larger that Wake Forest.  It has a nice campus and easy access to I-40.

Most of the WRH fans I talked to Saturday and Sunday were worried about the temperature and possible rain that had been forecast.

A&T is an FCS team so their goal is the playoffs. They would need to be on board first.

Wake's SID does the best job of hosting than any of the current hosts. Parking, pressbox, meeting space, turf field are all big positives. Only major negative is only two dressing rooms.

Former Richmond TE and RB coach Nick Eddins is 71-15 at West Montgomery. If the administration is smart, they'll figure out a way to hire Eddins. Look like Richmond fans want Eddins back the previous head coach resign yesterday

Now yes, but when the new high school comes I don't know about that. Alot of cash in this county..Plus top notch facility.
