Two easy ones in my opinion are Phil Ford and Michael Jordan.  Dean had some great point guards as has UNC but no one was better than Phil Ford.

You left off one of the most decorated, Larry Miller.  Was one of Dean's first big recruit and a two time ACC Player of the Year.  Bob Lewis was the other early Parada AA and a year ahead of Miller.

Would also add Bobby Jones to the list of potentials.  Not a top five or probably top ten but awesome player especially on D.

I cannot include McAdoo due to he only played one season for Dean after playing a=two years at Vincennes (Indiana) JUCO.  He was one of the best to ever play at UNC.  Still pissed off that he did not make the NBA 50th Anniversary team.

One player that probably no one will consider is Billy Cunningham.  He was on the ACC 50th Anniversary and is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.  One of the biggest scorer/rebounders in school history.

First Team

PG   Phil Ford

SG   Michael Jordan

F      James Worthy

F      Billy Cunningham

C      Brad Daugherty

Second Team

PG    Kenny Smith

SG    Charlie Scott

F       Antawn Jamison

F       Larry Miller

C       Sam Perkins

Third Team

PG    Jimmy Black

SG    Al Wood

F       Mike O'Koren

F       Walter Davis

C       Eric Montross

Only two definites and that was Ford and Jordan.  If I were going down a list Charlie Scott is my number three but second team here.

Third team was tough to pick with PG being a tough one.  Black over Steve Previs, George Karl, Steve Hale, and Derek Phelps.  Ed Cota would probably be my number three but he only played for Dean one season.  Very close to putting Walter Davis on the third team at shooting guard or forward but did not think he was better than Wood, O'K, and Jamison although Sweet D is one of my all time favorites.  Also seriously considered Donald Williams at shooting guard but after the unreal 1993 run he was not the same and that kind of thwarted his chances.

I give more props to the guys that stayed three or four years than the ones that did two or one. Bob McAdoo for his one year (junior) was one of the best to ever suit up but the shorter length of his career hurts as it does for Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, and to some degree Vince Carter.

My starting 5:

Point Guard:  Phil Ford.  Kenny Smith would be his backup.

Shooting Guard:  Michael Jordan.  I'd have Charlie Scott his backup.

Small Forward:  I would say James Worthy, although he was more of a Power Forward at UNC.  Instead, I'll go with Larry Miller starting and Al Wood as his backup.  If Larry hadn't played for UNC, Dean's legacy may have been cut by 25 years.  Al Wood was a heck of a shooter, but he was also a solid defensive player.  In a lot of ways he was the "Dudley Bradley" that could shoot straight.  Another honorable mention would be Bill Chamberlain.

Power Forward:  Big game James.  In fact, Worthy and Sam Perkins were essentially power forwards on that team.  To be nice, I'll have Perkins as his backup.

Center:  Bob McAdoo.  I'd have Brad Daugherty as his backup.

To round out my roster, I'd have a defensive stopper (Dudley Bradley), a big tall dude (Eric Montross), a North Carolina native (Antawn Jamison), and a great, flat out leader (Jimmy Black).

Jamison at center?  More of a power forward.  Daugherty, Perkins, Montross, and Kupchak were all very solid centers.

One of my favorite UNC players was Mike O'Koren.  Back in the 1970's, a Duke student made a placard that had a picture of O'Koren that said "All Acne first team".  The dude had a bad case of acne, but he could shoot, rebound, and play some solid D.  Not many mention him these days, but he was almost as solid of a contributor as Phil Ford.  Those two guys complimented each other well on the court.

In terms of pure athleticism, my First Team would go:

Point Guard:  Tywon Lawson.  Although short, he was a tremendous athlete.

Shooting Guard:  Michael Jordan.  'Nuff said.

Small Forward:  Brian Reese.  I'll get some boos with this pick, but I'll stick with it.  When he was on his game, he was unstoppable.  He never quite understood Coach Smith's philosophy.

Power Forward:  J.R. Reid.  He was a tremendous athlete that probably never lived up to his potential.

Center:  Brad Daugherty.  He was sleek, had great moves, and could run the court well.

Jamison at center?  More of a power forward.  Daugherty, Perkins, Montross, and Kupchak were all very solid centers.
